That is awesome K! I will have to look up that pattern and maybe use it this year for a family member, I just have 6 to do this year for them.

kwhite 01-02-2010 10:15 AM

This was easy. though i did screw it up just a bit, but I was able to adjust so you can't tell.

MaryStoaks 01-02-2010 10:16 AM

Pretty!! I vote for the red as a border.

charismah 01-02-2010 10:24 AM

I have a couple of those patterns. I like the turning twenty when you don't have much time and you need something quick! I just completed one for my father in law that was nature type prints.

That is a cool quilt. Perfect fabric for a geometry teacher.

sewjoyce 01-02-2010 10:45 AM

Beautiful quilt!! I think any color of border would be terrific but the royal blue or red would be my pick. Maybe use both -- 1" for the red and 3" for the blue??

rootyr 01-02-2010 10:46 AM

Perfect fabric!

twistedstitcher 01-02-2010 10:50 AM

I think a narrow red border, and a wider black border would look great. Nice quilt!

I agree...black for either a second border or the binding would really set it off.

Bobbinwinder 01-02-2010 12:37 PM

I've had some great results using three borders...1st and 3rd from same fabric...I'd use that black print for these. The 2nd is the narrowest of the 3 and it could be any of the other fabrics or all of them except the black. The 1st is larger than the 2nd but smaller than the 3rd. I think of it as "sealing" the patchwork, "floating" the accent, and "framing" the big picture. Hope that makes some sense...it really needs a photo, I know...sorry...not a skill I've mastered yet. OH, forgot to say how much I like your top...I really like your top!

I love it!!! It is perfect for a geometry teacher :D:D:D
I agree with Joyce on the borders.

I second the motion on this one. I like the black background with the numbers.

I was thinking black too.

Bevanger 01-03-2010 06:46 AM

I LOVE IT!

Quilter7x 01-03-2010 06:58 AM

My first impression when I looked at the quilt is that a red border would be perfect, thinking that you were only going to be doing one border. After reading everyone's comments, I agree that it would be much nicer with at least 2 borders, maybe 3. Red and black would be great colors to compliment the quilt. Nice job!

kwhite 01-03-2010 07:25 AM

Thank you all. I think two, red and black too. Thank you. I will post another pic to show you the results.

Can't wait to see :D

Wine Woman 01-03-2010 08:48 AM

My first thought when I saw it was black with red. I agree with twistedstitcher. Beautiful quilt-very vibrant!

momto4 01-03-2010 08:56 AM

Im not a good judge of that sort of thing, which is why I ask ya'll LOL, but I do really like it and think you did a great job! :D

KR 01-03-2010 09:56 AM

Great job! I agree with others.....red narrow border, black "math" print for the wider border and maybe the purble for binding. Whatever colors you decide, they're going to "pull" that same color out visually.

Interesting pattern....do you have a source for it? Thanks!

Ninnie 01-03-2010 10:43 AM

Love it K, it turned out Great!

This is my favorite pattern for aquick quilt - it takes me about 11 minutes to sew together one block after all the pieces are cut and put where they are going to go... I LOVE IT!! Red is my first reaction to the question - can't wait to see it done.

Jim's Gem 01-03-2010 09:37 PM

Looks great!

cutebuns 01-03-2010 10:55 PM

Have you worked more on it?

jewelps 01-04-2010 08:25 AM

Stitcher Jen 01-04-2010 08:53 AM

I agree! I like the black background w/numbers as well!

brendadawg 01-05-2010 07:33 AM

I really like the Turning Twenty pattern also -- and love your quilt. I actually used 10 FQ's and made a small lap quilt and called it "Twisted Ten".

Esqmommy 01-05-2010 07:45 AM

Ya done yet?????? Let's see it!!

Ditter43 01-05-2010 08:28 AM

I would use the dark print (black?) for the border. It would frame it nicely! Good job.

hapytlk 01-05-2010 12:27 PM

maroon..red..that is what seems right to me.

kwhite 01-06-2010 02:02 PM

I have to travel now to a "LQS" since they closed down my Joann's, so I don't have the fabric I want yet. I will go tomorrow.
