Barbm inspired me with her table runners. So I just finished two table runners for gifts. The brown and amber table runner I made for my son and DDIL. It is 80 x 18 nches for their 90 inch new dining room table.
The red table & white table runner I will post after this because you can only post 3 pictures at a time. It is smaller 12 x 36 inches I made for my DH's niece for their new house. I did free form machine quilting on both of them, hope you can see it ok. Made a couple of mistakes but I still like them.

Here is a close up so you can see the fabric.

Here is full view of the table runner for my son and DDIL with the backing showing.

Here is another close up so you can see the free-form machine quilting.

Ok here is the red one. I like the quilting on this one because it reminds me of red work quilting.

Here is the red one I made for my DH's niece.

Very nice work. I LOVE seeing finished pieces. I may actually get off my chair and move over to the sewing machine and fire it up!

Beautiful runners!!!

Barbm 06-23-2009 02:59 PM

I love them- very nice quilt job!

I guess they were a hit at DD's shower. I've been asked to make a bunch more for FDIL's shower at end of July. Right after I finish my blocks for the B&W swap. (Acutally I'm glad I made one for me, it is an easy pattern and fun to do.)

Keep up the good work!

sewjoyce 06-23-2009 03:02 PM

Barb:
Where did you get the pattern for the table runner with the thin pink, white and floral strips? I love that one and would like to make one for me. LOL

Beautiful table runners. Your quilting is fantastic.

Debbie1 06-23-2009 08:18 PM

Nice job with your table runners!

Barbm 06-24-2009 04:22 AM

thin pink and white- made it up. Take-off on on of the tutorials here. Took a piece of fabric cut to the finished length and width. Laid batting over it, then took a square, set it on point and pinned it to the batting & base. Then took 1 1/2" strips of colors and sewed them on. "Quilt as you go". Trimmed the edges and then bound it.

Very nice.

RedGarnet222 06-24-2009 08:06 AM

Hey those are very nice all the way around! I too like the way the red stitching looks like redwork embroidery. How fun!

Ok now you are making me blush  . Thank you and thank you one and all. I value all of your opinions.

Love them Penny! The 'redwork' quilting is fantastic! Wish I was good enough either by hand or machine to use a contrasting thread - I always go for a toning one!

Can I ask what the goldfish fabric is? It would be perfect for a One Block Wonder.

Ducky 06-24-2009 10:41 AM

Really pretty, Penny! You did great on your quilting. I've made three table runners like your first picture, but only stitched in the ditch. I'm not good enough, yet, to do free motion.

K:
Thanks for the compliments it was fun to do.
The fabric is from Kona Bay's 2008 fabric collection called NOBU-28. I found this web site for Asian Fabrics. http://www.debsews2.com/ She mostly sells by the 1/2 yard and up. She is very nice to deal with and quick to answer your emails with answers to any questions. You know how I can talk, LOL. She has beautiful fabrics, a nicely laid out web site and she ships worldwide. I ordered 6 yards of fabric when I made the order and it only cost me $12.00USD to ship to me here in Argentina. She sent me the 5 inch squares I used in the red table runner as samples when she sent me the material. I do not know if she always does this but it was a nice touch.
I did look for this material while I was answering your email but did not see the same material. She does have other fish patterns thouigh, just type "fish" but she also has other fabrics designs in similar colors. Just let me warn you now, you are going to go crazy. She has some japanese fabric I have not seen anywhere else.
Anything else you would like to know just PM me.
Penny

Thanks Ducky. The truth I have done meandering free form but never a patterned free form quilting before. I will send you a PM and tell you how I learned this.
