Mystery Quilt top finished

1 Attachment(s)
I did this back at the beginning of the month. Now I am just brain storming on how to quilt it (while I work on some other projects ... never just one project going! LOL)

I'm leaning towards a SID, to let the design speak for itself. I'm open to suggestions, though.

Thanks for looking!

I think SID would be lovely!!
The quilt is really nice, love the colors!

Cute quilt! The lines are great :)

QuiltnNan 02-01-2013 10:27 AM

nicely done

dunster 02-01-2013 10:35 AM

This is a beautiful modern quilt! Yes, you could do SID and the quilt will still be beautiful, but you could also spice it up with some designs that would make it fabulous. Look at Angela Walters' tutorials for some really good ideas. http://www.quiltingismytherapy.com/t...free-patterns/

Beautiful work, I agree STD would be perfect!

Diane007 02-01-2013 12:41 PM

nice soft colours

Tartan 02-01-2013 12:47 PM

Great top! I would start with SITD too and depending on how much FMQ you want to do, maybe a different quilting background design in cream thread in all the cream squares. I think it would be a great place to do different Leah Day like quilting patterns.

I love your colors. It's a pretty quilt.

redquilter 02-01-2013 12:47 PM

I can't really offer advice on quilting, but I can tell you it's a lovely quilt. Nice, soft colors.

nunnyJo 02-01-2013 01:30 PM

like it and SID would be perfect

Tartan, it is funny you should say that. I was just now looking at her sight for inspiration! LOL

Thanks for asking this. I have my mystery quilt done but haven't sandwiched or quilted it yet. I'll probably do SID on mine since I don't do FMQ. Like your color choices. That was the hardest part of this quilt

sewdamncute 02-01-2013 06:57 PM

Really nice modern quilt, to me the negative spaces are crying out for quilting!

justme 02-01-2013 07:02 PM

Oh I like that! So soft ~ great job and can't wait to see it quilted!

DebbE 02-01-2013 07:07 PM

I'd do echo quilting, following the seam lines 1/2" away - I think it would add to your design. Lovely quilt!

fleurdelisquilts 02-01-2013 07:28 PM

Well, anything I add will be redundant, so have fun with it. I love the pattern and the fabrics. Don't forget to post finished pics!

gabeway 02-02-2013 07:02 AM

Great job!

purplecat 02-02-2013 09:32 AM

I did this same mystery quilt and am wondering how to quilt it also. Glad to read thru the responses here. Your quilt is very pretty and modern looking!

sharon b 02-02-2013 09:34 AM

Great Looking top ! I recognize that one :) I like SID so you don't take away from the quilt design

I agree, her designs would really enhance the design.

sewbizgirl 02-03-2013 09:08 AM

I would outline quilt, echoing the angles in the design.

Nancygeddes 02-03-2013 12:22 PM

SID is a perfect choice.

Wanabee Quiltin 02-03-2013 05:05 PM

I think cross hatching would be good too. Diagonal cross hatching.

Beehiveof9 02-03-2013 06:12 PM

Thank you for all the suggestions! Hard to choose just what to do! I may have to make another one just so I can utilize more than one option.

I'm going to mull it over further while I finish my 4 yo's quilt and a quilt for a new nephew. If anyone has done this quilt AND has it all quilted, I would love to see a pic!

Grandma Peg 02-03-2013 06:32 PM

Very nice mystery quilt.

mary j 02-03-2013 06:51 PM

Because it looks very contemporary, I think Stitch in the ditch would be very nice.
