This is the next machine that I will be posting on the thread Vintage Machine Shop Photos. See if you can guess the make. The menfolk might like to help with the clue. Surprisingly enough the bottle is still full!

Charlee 06-27-2011 12:42 PM

Well...my guess is that it's a Spitfire sewing machine, made by Sussex...

MUV!! Get back here!!

Sewfine 06-27-2011 02:54 PM

Could it be a spitfire.

vintagemotif 06-28-2011 12:37 AM

My guess is that it's a machine used to make hats.

Using your clue "Surprisingly enough the bottle is still full!"

The cap is still on the bottle; so, of course the bottle is still full.

I will add to this shortly.

Sorry, you're on the wrong track.

If you knew how hot it was when we took the photo you too would have been amazed my husband didn't down a bottle of one of his favourite beers.

Keep going....

Dang! I was going to say a Heinrick grossman dresdenia B hat machine. I thought your clue with the beer was directing us to Sewlot's site.

Keep on going, keep on reading, I think you'll get it. Just think of where I am, what I like, and which machine would give me the best of both worlds.....

The Ideal Sewing machine!? Cool machine.

OK, you were getting hot with the Sewalot site. The answer is coming up in about an hour. Think of Winston Churchill and his famous sign. That will give you a letter of the alphabet. Then look in the Sewalot index under that letter.....

I'd love you to get the answer!

Victers Sewing machine!?

Guys like war themes and you stated maybe the guys could help in this clue.
Plus, they made the Spitfire!

Muv 06-28-2011 01:00 PM

Vickers Sewing machine

Muv 06-28-2011 01:10 PM

Bravo bravo we have a winner!!!

Pictures going up on the photos thread as soon as possible.

Yes, Vickers built the Spitfire. For me this machine gives the best of both worlds because it's made in England, so I can be all patriotic, and to a German design, so I can be efficient!
