Just wondering if anybody can tell me what this pattern is? I have been enjoying reading the posts and replies since I joined last week. Not much else to do when it is blowing & snowing. 90 KM wind warnings for our area. Thanks for any help with this name. By the way Josie54 is my handle - my name is Judy.

Hmmmm.... its really pretty! Wonder if it is "Chicken Scratch"? I've seen it somewhere and can't remember where but don't think the one I saw was in such a large pattern so it might not be it.

LOL I was going to say chicken tracks?

Leslee 03-05-2007 06:57 AM

Hi Judy! On the Quilter's Cache website there's a pattern called Palm Leaves Hosannah that looks like your beautiful leaf. As a single Palm Leaf, it could have been set the way your quilt is. :) Hope your weather warms up soon...

Norah 03-05-2007 07:10 AM

The name is Hosanna or Palm Fronds, depicting the palm fronds strewn on the road and waved when Jesus entered Jerusalem, riding on the donkey. Mathew 21: 8-9 One of my favorite patterns.

Actually Kathy....after I posted that I realized I made a mistake and the pattern I was thinking of is turkey tracks! Don't have a clue where my brain is this morning and why I said scratch....or chicken for that matter! LOL

Its Monday! LOL

Debbie Murry 03-05-2007 07:20 AM

Chicken scratch was a hot topic yesterday, maybe that's why you said that. And you're right it's Monday and I'm still in my bathrobe. I just can't get motivated today to get started doing anything.

Thanks ladies for all your quick replies. For those of you who read my previous posts, this was another one of my m-i-l's quilts. Only thing is I don't know if she made it or her mother had made it. I do know it is older than 25 years - because I never saw it before we went through everything. Once again thanks - and if anybody is interested in a truckload or 2 of snow let me know.

Country Quilter 03-05-2007 07:45 AM

oh no thanks Judy!!! We have enough here! Yesterday my husband spent the better share of the day (the 3rd day!) removing snow off the deck and part of the roof!...

And Debbie...that could be it! I don't have much energy this morning either. I am in the midst of one quilt top and lost interest already so brought out some prequilted placemats and am going to bind them today just to do something different...hoping that will put me back in the mood to finish something else...these should be quick and I am in the need to finish something! LOL

I don't believe I've seen one quite like it. But it is certainly lovely.Did you make it?

SewSew2 03-31-2007 05:26 AM

OK I can solve the mystery.... we can call it Beth's and place it in my closet.Ha! Will send address where to ship. Ha! It is stunning and know you are proud to own it.

Susan s.
I had posted this picture as it was one of 24 quilts we found when we started going through my m-i-l's things after her death last October. As it seemed to be an unusual pattern to me I thought maybe the wonderful subscribers to this forum could help me. I took pictures of all the quilts before we divided them up. Didn't really want to take them to auction. Some of the quilts had been made by my m-i-l and some had been made by her mother. I can only hope to someday be able to make something as nice as those I have seen on this board.

Beth
I would love to call it that . . . . but as for going in your closet . .. . . I am a little partial to it myself. Thanks for the offer to take it off my hands anyway. :-)

Hi. I don't know the name of the quilt, but it looks like that's already been taken care of. I really like this. Very pretty.

No idea on the name of the pattern. I just wanted to put a bug in your ear about documentation on the quilts. For the quilts that you *know* that your MIL made, put a label on the back with her name and a date range for when you believe it was made.

You may want to enlist the help of a quilt historian to determine which quilts were made by her mother, and get labels on hers too. It'll REALLY matter in a generation or two. These are family heirlooms, and doing the legwork now will be easier than in 50 years.
