Hello Quilters, I made this quilt top or flimsy as some call it, from my Army scraps left from making Settee Throw I posted here in March. This was inspired by a picture I saw online but I didn’t see any info so I don’t know what it’s called. I hope I like it better once it’s quilted. My sister came today and I told her it should be awarded to a younger veteran because it reminds me of Tech games or Legos-lol I think it supposed to look like the rows are stacked on top of each row next to it and center row (Tanks, helicopters,Jeep’s) looks stacked on the two rows on each side. I guess it supposed to be an illusion quilt of sorts. Anyway, another top is pieced. If anyone knows the name of pattern, I’d like to know please and thank you. The picture I saw was bright colors.
Have a nice night/day wherever you may be-Toogie |
Don't know the name, but I just wanted to say that's an eye-catching quilt. I really like it.
I check out Pinterest almost daily, and I've never seen this pattern before. I also like it and find it very interesting.

What a great quilt. I love it. It does remind me of legos or minecraft, one of those stacking games. You did a wonderful job of making a quilt for a guy. Thanks for posting. I will have to put this pattern on my to do list.

I never thought of Army scraps as pretty but this one sure is! You did a great job on this one. Thanks for sharing.
Great top but I don’t know the name.
Most interesting pattern. Would love to know what it's called too!
You did very well for not having a pattern to go by or a name. By chance could you share your instructions as I've been searching for a pattern for a lap size quilt and the gent asked for dark blues. This pattern could work for me.
Toogie, lovely top. The pattern reminds me of a zipper quilt but that is not quite right. I too would like the dimensions/instructions because with the right colours, it would be a great donation quilt for man or a woman. Our guild has been asking for more single bed sized quilts.

Toogie, very nice and creative.
Love this and you did a great job matching all those seams! I took a picture so hopefully I can figure this out some day, if no one comes up with the pattern.
This is certainly an amazing quilt. Well done!
OH that is ingenious! your mind works in wondrous ways!! wonderful quilt.
Sharp quilt, Toogie! I've never seen the pattern before but I like it.

Saw one one like it on pinterest

My inspiration photo was from Cooking Up Quilts. It looks like the one on the top left corner, pattern back, OurWorkbench found (thank you). I read on one of your links above that on her notes she wrote the sizes of sqs. I cut mine smaller but used more in a row because I didn't know. My big centers were 6.5 inch sqs with three 2.5in sqs underneath. The color rows were 4.5 x 6.5 with just two 2.5 in under. You also have a 4.5 inch square, on top or bottom, of every row except center is 4.5 x 6.5 Look at picture for placement. My top came out 59 x 83, because my goal was 60 x 80, so I was close.
Thanks for providing the name Magic Carpet, OurWorkbench. I had saved my picture I found and tried to go to Cooking Up Quilts, but couldn't get to site. If I had known the name, I maybe could have found it. Oh well, it's made and I am naming my quilt top Tank Tracks, for our veteran. |
Oh Toogie! Another fabulous finish, a lucky veteran is going to be thrilled!
What a wonderful quilt. I like it so much better than the original bright colors. Some young veteran is going to be so pleased to receive this. Great job!!!
