Let us know what you did and how it turned out. I think I would do an X first and then SITD fearing puckers the other way.

I agree with Gia, start in the middle, in the ditch around each square, then the horizontal lines. Good luck and don't forget to relax and have fun.

Oh, I can't resist-----I'd have to consult with your avatar pic to get another opinion! How CUTE!!! I grew up with dachshunds. I'd love to have another to go with my beagle mix (the other breed I grew up with and keep getting.)

Oh, this is about quilting.....sorry for the detour. ha ha

Well, confessional........I always told my kids the"truth" when it came to the fur-kids.

Yeah, I saw that line on some online pet store site and had to claim it.

What's your little one's name and all?

No advice on the quilting but I love the quilt -- the fabric is sew cute!

I personally think you should do the 1/4 inch around each square. The stitch in the ditch is more difficult because you are often working through several layers of material. You could do the X on the squares still or you could put a flower inside each square. They have small flower stencils and you can mark them with the pens that disappear when moistened. I hand quilt all my quilts and it may take more time to do the 1/4 inch but it is much easier to not have to struggle with the extra thickness.
