The quilt is lovely! When I did mine I quilted it on my DSM and didn't have a problem. I used thread to match the background and chose different designs as each block was different. Where there is a large blank space sew in a design that relates to that shirt. Where there is lots of printing just a simple meandering design would be sufficent. Good Luck on the quilting. It is a gift to last forever!

I make T-shirt quilts all the time. I do a medium/large meander on the entire quilt. I know that sounds odd but it looks great, doesn't take away from the blocks and gives the quilt stability. I don't know how to post pictures but I'll try. As far as the thread goes I'd go with something neutral light gray maybe. Have fun, Good luck.

You can use gray or offwhite thread to quilt it all over.

I highly recommend you quilt in the blocks. A medium to large meander will do and goes faster than a pano. looks great so far.

I would not hand quilt a tee shirt quilt. It will stretch and the thread will break. I would use a varigated thread and a stipple stitch to quilt it.

You did a great job on the quilt top! I made my son an all-star quilt using his t-shirts and I used a very large puzzle stipple all over after securing the blocks stitched in the ditch. I did have a hard time with the blocks stretching, even after using heavy fusible on each shirt. But the finished product was beautiful and emotional for him receiving it. I made it for his 33rd birthday! Good luck! Memory quilts are the best!
