I've been asked to put together a couple of quilts for a silent auction for charity. Going through my stash, this is what I found. I'm looking for some design ideas that are pretty fast to piece, but still pretty enough for auction. I'd like for them to sell well. I'd say it's all about the great cause, but also, it's my pride on the line too!

I have 1 yard of the blue and 2 yds each of the other

I have 2 yds each. Note the one-way pattern.

Don't have any idea for you but I sure do like the chocolate flower fabric and the stripes together. Hope whatever you do, those two are matched up.

are you using all six together? You could do a chunky rail fence if you do only three together. Have you seen the disappearing nine patch? you cut your square fairly large and sew them in a four patch then cut them in half length wise and cross wise. here is a link to see a tutorial

No, I wasn't planning on using all 6 together. I think I should have enough for two lap quilts from these.

Dont know why, but the fab set with the stripes is saying rail fence to me. You wont have to match up the stripe colors that way. Would make a great manly type quilt. Not to prissy for them. lol Love the colors in both sets.

What about rail fence for a pattern? It always looks more complicated than it actually is.

Can you talk them into doing a raffle instead of a silent auction for the quilts? You can usually make a lot more money on a quilt in a raffle than you can in a silent auction.

Oh, another idea is a D9P set on point. Saw one on the board here that looks really nice. Will post a link to it if I can find it.

OK, here's the link, but I had forgotten that it is a scrappy quilt:

Joining large half squares would make a nice quilt. I'd use white or a white print on one side and any or all of those fabrics on the other. Pinwheels would be fast and nice as well.

Rail Fence is a good idea. Not only do they need auction quilts, they also need twin size quilts for teenage boys living in a group home. I think you're right. The colors are just masculine enough to work. Thanks so much!

OK, strips are cut for the rail fence for the brown/stripe/red. I like the idea of a D9P but my mom already claimed it for the quilt she is making for the same thing. What about a D4P with sashing? Is there a tute for D4P?

It would make a nice log cabin variation.
