Oh ,I like this a lot!

I also think red sashing would look fabulous. It would give definition to your blocks.

At first I agreed w/Ditter on the red sashing but then read what MTS said and went back and looked at the navy again. I like how the navy sashing with the navy corner blocks creates another "block". How about using the red for the centers instead of light blue? Please keep sharing pics of it with us!

No, I have NO CLUE how to do a quilt on point...just thought it might be a good idea and figured I'd figure it out soon enough. Is there a resource I could read to see how to do it?

I thought of making a block that would kind of give this an Irish chain kind of look...but I kept getting bogged down in what colors I would use and it just seemed like it would be too busy...so you're thinking maybe it wouldn't be? What colors might I consider? The dark denim would definitely be one.

And YES, everything is prewashed multiple times. I'm allergic to the chemicals used in making fabric so I have to wash a lot to get the sizing out, etc. so that I can even handle it without ill effects.

I looked and looked for the quilt that was posted here on the board and I can not find it :? Maybe someone here knows where it is if so PLEASE send a link. What I am looking at is a Black/White and Bright sample quilt that has those "chain" blocks in it it is just a wonderful quilt and I think it would really help Karen out with her design delima. HELP all you awesome computer searchers!!!!

I have some deep concerns regarding your use of used or worn clothing . Many years ago I had to line a dress for a daughter after only a few washings the lining frayed out and my work was in vain .I understand your need to be frugal but often the fabric does not have much left in it .I think your color choices are really great and sashing with cornerstones look good .It also stablizes the block so you do not have along run of sashing that can ripple on a new quilter. What you have done looks very accurate to me .Have fun and go for it.

I am still worried .Where the fabric let go was at the seams .It was as if it had been cut and just pressing a seam flat after the fabric that was in the shirt had no seams in it was more than it could do and it was not thread bare.You are a very great beginner .I just want that quilt to last and after all there are no quilting police so just enjoy .

I've used cotton men's shirts from the Salvation Army and they seemed to hold up OK. If you are concerned make a mini quilt or placemat and launder it. I would definately pre wash any new fabric. The older stuff is not going to shrink so you're ok there. Given your excellent work on these blocks, you should be able to handle assembling the quilt on point. Finally, I like the dark blue sashing. I like how it makes the secondary squares with the cornerstones.
