Can you give me some opinions on which border would look best?
overall view dark brown border with gold roses #1 choice gold and brown #2 choice |
I like the larger print with maybe a small (tiny) strip of a solid!
PS: I love cats also, love this quilt. |
I would go with the first one. It looks best with the background.
|
I'm confused because it appears you have another layer next to it? I have a hard time deciding when it's there...but if I had to pick now, I'd say the second one...
|
I like choice #1.
|
I am a bit confused too. But I would only put a wide boarder next to the dark brown sashing, and it would be a tonal, or I could see a white and black zebra print next to the dark brown.

I think my countertop is showing so looks like another print. The dark sashing is actually a brown with green color.
this is the granite countertop |
I vote for choice #2 as well. I LOVE this quilt....what are the pictures? Did you embroider them?? I just love this!!!
|
The pictures are a panel that I cut apart. It is for my friend although it is almost a year late. She loves cats. Most of her cats have 6 toes.

I didn't take a good look at your examples, but I almost always choose the dark color for the final binding and let the other fabrics be in the border. It kind of depends upon what you want to bring attention to in the finished quilt....I also try to see (when auditioning fab.) a good balance of color. (I am a retired int. decorator) and find that I look at my quilts in the same way I looked at color, fabrics, ets, when working...One thing I try to remember, if it applies, is to have the visual weight ona the left and bottom. Hope this helps.....ultimately it probably always depends on what looks best to your own eye...good luck and good quilting

I like choice #2.
|
looked again, thanks for clearing up the confusion about your countertop...lol. My final choice would be #1 now. I like the darkest around the outside to frame your quilt.
|
I like #2.
And WHERE does that fabric come from?! I love love love it!!! |
I like #2 best although they both look nice.
|
Love the fabric!!! I like #2 the best....
|
I'm not really a cat fan but that is going to be a pretty quilt
|
Oh no need to finish it, just send it to me!
Great job, I would use black for the border. |
I love the first one. It just feels right.
|
I like 2

I chose the first pattern because my friend has a lot of antiques so I thought brown with a yellow/ gold rose would look nice with her furniture. I am going to put a tonal brown swirl in the corners. The back will be squares of fabric with squares of the cat heads fabric. /Thanks for your advise and I put it on the pingpong table to clear up any background noise. LOL
The vertical stripes are of cat heads and fabric is like a grid of cat heads Haven't pressed the final border yet |

my color advisor helped yesterday.
This is how I knew if he liked or disliked the fabric He liked the fabric with the roses corner where tonal brown swirl will go |
I vote #1.
At first, I picked the 'countertop' as my choice LOL. |
I like #1 the best.
|
I love the tiny brown calico pictured in one next to the dark border myself. Love that print. Peeking cats... way cute.
|
DA - do you have enough of that dark brown fabric in the border to use as a binding? I think that would bring it all together perfectly and really help frame everything. Of course, if you don't have enough for the binding, just ignore what I said. ;)
|
I like the #1 choice. This is a cute quilt. I can't let dd see it, she loves cats and she would want one. Of course, I guess I could always put it on my list of things for Christmas. Heavens, Christmas just passed and here I am thinking about what to do already.
