Help, I'm stuck. I've had this block laying around for about 2 years and I have no idea how I want to finish it off. Suggestions please.

If you don't want to make more, put on a binding and make it a wall hanging.
Depending on the size, you could put it on a tote, or make it into your own Round Robin, you could even go 'Christmasy' with it.
Add more green, red, and white blocks around it? Lots of possibilities, and it is a beauty, norbanaquilts :D

I agree with quiltincrazy.A pretty christmasy border and you would have a nice Christmas wallhanging. Its very pretty!

How large is the block?

Clever way of seaming the white parts. That looks like it would make assembling the block much easier.

You could put diamonds around the edge -

You could use this as a center medallion for a larger quilt -

You could put wide solid borders around the sides with a LeMoyne star in each corner -

How large do you want to go? How much coordinating fabric do you have around?

Size doesn't matter, I just want it out of the UFO pile.
I'll have to go search the stash to see what I have to go with it.
I don't quite understand what you meant by diamonds around the edge (I can be a little thick headed)

Thanks everyone for all your help and ideas. I knew some brilliant mind on here will have the answer I'm searching for

It would make a nice Christmas wallhanging if you just want to finish it this size.
Maybe a couple of borders??
Beautiful star!!

Love your lonestar. It's a right of passage to have a lonestar UFO, isn't it? b/c I have one too :)
I think you can do any number of things, but what ever you do, remember there's a lot of hard work in there. :) :) It's beautiful!!

This is what I seen for borders when I looked at your center...Your center is much more pretty than any that I looked at to play with.
This is worked up to approx 90X90

So beautiful, I am envious! I think a solid border with a star in each corner.

Gorgeous! Is this block paper pieced?

Most everyone else seems to see Christmas when they look at your block, but I see a southwestern theme. It reminds me of the decoration on those string ties. Maybe you could add on to it in sand tones and turquois to create a desert quilt.

Whatever you do with it, it deserves a life. That is one beautiful block.

You could put some tiny blocks with it and make a small lap quilt.

Sorry norbana, I thought the dark brown was a dark green until I downloaded your picture  I need a new monitor

SulaBug 09-19-2009 11:50 PM

I just love your block!! :D It seems
that there are many ways you could
use it. Depending on weather you
want a wall hanging or a quilt top.
Good Luck finishing it. I will be watching
to see your progress.
:D :D :D :D :D

Having just been in the southwest and falling in love with the awesome southwestern themed fabrics, I think that a desert theme would look beautiful. Course it is a beautiful star no matter which way you look at it!
