I love the border. I would use a blue or yellow corner block and go for it. Good Job!!

raptureready 01-17-2011 07:06 AM

I think I would put a narrow black, white, or pale yellow border on first to really make the center pop but that's just me. Beautiful job.

What do you think of adding a yellow or green small border? It also looks very nice the way it is.

Yes, this is gorgeous! And then either red or blue for binding to finish it all off.

That large of an outer border fights with the inner blocks. I think a solid border would work, even if you chose to add two outer solid borders.

KathyAire 01-17-2011 07:10 AM

I like the border. I would either mitered the corners or use cornerstones.

Maggiesmom 01-17-2011 07:12 AM

I think it is a great boder; but I would probably add a thin inner border to separate the center from the border a bit.

sewmuchmore 01-17-2011 07:20 AM

Awesome quilt, I love the border ideal.

That is what I would do. It is gorgeous.

I agree with a small inner border, but would also love to see what it looked like with the border flipped so the wider red part is next to the red on the inside.

hazeljane 01-17-2011 07:50 AM

That is an amazing border. I'm with those who suggest a small inner border to separate, but really, it's gorgeous and the whole quilt just sings. Amazing!

bunniequilter 01-17-2011 07:59 AM

A very narrow one inch inner border in yellow, or a small black and white check would make it pop

dunster 01-17-2011 08:05 AM

I agree with the others, a narrow inner border would set it off, and maybe see what the border looks like flipped, but it will be fantastic. I have never seen a print like that and I LOVE it. (I assume the border is printed and not paper pieced???)

okiepastor 01-17-2011 08:08 AM

I agree --narrow border first, but that is really eye-popping!

paintedquilt 01-17-2011 08:23 AM

Yellow corner block :-P

PWinston 01-17-2011 08:25 AM

Your border is gorgeous - - paper pieced, I presume. I agree with the others above, small narrow border first and then you gorgeous border.

blackbearbetty 01-17-2011 12:18 PM

I made the border out of the left over pieces around the block panels. I hate to waste any fabric.I've also put a picture on here with a small black border between the red.

I agree that a narrow border first would make the center pop. I think I would choose black to bring out the black in some of the blocks.

okiepastor 01-17-2011 04:13 PM

Can anyone else see the pic with the black border? I cannot!

This is what I was going to say, too. Love the border!

Amazing border!

tomilu 01-17-2011 04:19 PM

Seems like the border is overshadowing the blocks. Perhaps a solid border first??

I agree with flipping so the red is next to main section, the reds may flow tog and maybe you won't need an inner border. I also like the idea of cornerstones. Either way you chose it'll be sweet.

jljack 01-19-2011 10:02 AM

Love that border!!! Maybe a very narrow yellow flange between the center and the border? Just a thought.
