Now remember I hand Quilt! Just not sure what I should do. Thought about Echo Quilting, but thought you guys might have some better ideas, what do you think?
First - - WOW, I love your quilt!!! Is is all applique? Great work!
The echo quilt sound good to me. Are you meaning just around the flower and leaves? OR would you do multiple echos to the next flower? IMHO - A single echo then .... hmmm ... something in the open space.... hmmm..............darn nothing is coming to me. Maybe someone can help here???? |
I don't have any ideas for quilting but just wanted to say that is beautiful! I admire anyone that can applique. I just end up frustrated. LOL I might try some fusible the next time I want to try.

Ooooooh, gorgeous!!!!!!!! :)
I'm kinda in the same boat, noooo idea about the quilting, but WOW that sure is beautiful!!!
I hand quilt too. But I have no ideas. Try looking up in some books that have applique in them you will sure find something there. And you quilt is beautiful; good job
I vote for outline on the flowers and a leafy vine in the sashings. I hand quilt too most of the time and it takes me a looong time to finish a project. I love the look of machine quilting too, I'm just not good at it and can't afford to have it done on all of my quilts.
Melissa-Your quilt is gorgeous!!! How long did it take you to make it? I wish I could help you out with a quilting design-this is why so many of my quilt tops just sit-I cannot ever decide how to quilt them. I would probably do an echo (one time) around the flowers and then do a viney, leafy, something in the open areas. Please show us the quilt again when you finish it.
Not a handquilter either so I have no ideas there, but I did want to say that is one GORGEOUS quilt! Is the applique done by hand as well?
This one did take a while but only because I had other things going and getting sidetracked and all the usuall excuses! It is fusible but I did hand blanket stitch on them, I did it for a take along project and so I could set and watch tv with dh. I had the blocks done FOREVER then finally got them put together a week or so ago.
I'll say vines or little flowers through the white part. Oh hell what do I know I just started. But it is simply gorgous. Can't wait to see it done.
Wow, this is a gorgeous quilt! I think I like the idea of vines or something in the sashing, and maybe some outline quilting within the blocks. The star is your applique, and I think too much quilting might take away from that.
Beautiful quilt. Whatever you do will be perfect, I'm sure!
My suggestion is that you send it to me when you are done. Beautiful!!!!
ah, Melissa that is beautiful. Well ask me how to quilt mine and I have no idea, but I looked at your quilt and I thought how about a double rope design, not sure if that is the correct name for it. Do you get what I mean :(
Also I like your idea of echo quilting, but thats a lot of work. I´m sure you would be up for it. Anyway love your quilt   Elle |
No ideas either, but that quilt is to die for. Is it your first?
No, not my first just most recent, well this and the bear paw finished a couple of days before this one.
Holy cow I LOVE that quilt! I have no idea how to consider quilting it--I ask those kinds of questions myself--but HOLY COW is that beautiful.
Thanks all!! You would think sooner or later this would get easier, but I think with each quilt I have less ideas on quilting it. I sometimes think too, that I try so hard to look for the "Creative Solution" and miss the obvious!!!
Melissa:
I just love that quilt.........I am a big fan of applicate. How ever you quilt it, it will be beautiful! You do such good work!!! :D :D :D |
I would love to see a close-up of a block. I love the design and the layout. (I think I have that pattern!!) I'd go with the echo around the flowers and a cable in the sashings.
FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS!

It took my breathe away!!! How many flower and greenery colors did you use? That is my hardest or should I say feared job, picking colors. Simply amazing.
WOW! It's beautiful! Sorry can't help with quilting suggestions. . .
Beautiful quilt, you did a great job on your applique. I agree with the others that think just echo the flowers and put something viney in the white spaces. Are you going to hand quilt it?
Whew!!! That is gorgeous, you did a fabulous job on it! If it were mine... :D (and I'll be happy to send you my addy  ) I would echo once around the applique, then I would put together 1 of the shapes-either the flower by itself or the triangle- of the applique in the "large" intersections" to form a square, then I would use a double vine in all the open sashing spaces. I would quilt in the ditch in the border...but I still consider myself a newbie...so I'm sure there are much better solutions out there than mine. Heck...just send it to me...I'll think about how to quilt it :D :D
