Here is a cross stitch that I made and plan to quilt around for a wall hanging. I have some great pinks and brown fabrics for it. My problem is that I am not sure what to do as I don't want to take away from the cross stitch too much. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as what type and size blocks I should do around this? I thought maybe just borders but it will actually be an oval shape around the cross stitch and then out from there. Please let me know. Thanks so much. :)

You did a beautiful job on this cross stitch! I don't have any ideas for you, but this is absolutely beautiful. Motherhood is so special!

Beautiful!

A beautiful crosstitch project. I am not good at knowing what you should add but I will be watching to see what some of these other talented members have to say. Color-wise soft colors will work great.

Beautiful cross stitch.
Not sure about how to put it together. (I'm at work and numbers are going through my head, not quilt designs)

I would frame it kind of like a picture frame. Maybe a thin inner brown border (imitating matting in a framed picture) & then a green outer border for a "frame".

well, I noticed there is pink in the picture, so what about one of the borders having pink in it?
I think it would bring the eye back to the picture. I'd just lay some fabric under it and "audition" them to see what I liked best.
It's just beautiful. I love cross stitch. Wish I had more time to do it.

Your cross stitch is really nice! Either bordered like a frame or maybe a trip around the world in subtle prints would look nice.

Just Beautiful!!

I too think you should do a strip of pink (as in the picture) and maybe the binding the same grey that is in the picture. It is beautiful so do colors that will cause the eyes to zone in on the picture and not on a busy boarder. Nice job, who is the lucky person to get it?

Thanks so much for all of the comments on the cross stitch. I like the mat and frame idea. I will have to see what fabric will work best for it. Thanks for the ideas.

This is an item I am making to sell. It's time to start paying back student loans. :(

With all the time you put into the cross-stitch, I would frame it in browns and pinks, but then I would also put it under glass and really framed. That would be a gorgeous picture. Using the quilting as the matting. And I would think you could get a lot for it. I've done cross stitch and the colors in the hair and robe I know were eye straining to do. I would hate to see that work not covered in glass. Let us know what you are going to do, and make sure you post a picture when done.

That is just beautiful. I love your plan for framing it. Please post a pic when you finish.

What a beautiful piece of work! I would only use soft colors
with it.
