Need suggestions for quilting
1 Attachment(s)
Here is my latest Reflection quilt. The top is finished, now need suggestions for how to quilt it. I can hand quilt, though it's not my favorite thing. Can't afford LAQ. Any suggestions for motifs/patterns on a domestic? I've done a fair amount of fmq. TIA. I'll be waiting for your expert ideas.

beautiful! i would probably just do some squiggly lines radiating out from the center- have to really think about this one- but it sure is beautiful!
|
Very pretty. I would do a diagonal cross hatch. I've done several small quilts like that and have become fairly fond of it.

Hmmm... I like both ideas. Keep them coming.

No suggestions - just have to say this is gorgeous!

That is absolutly georgeous
|
That is stunning! I'm sorry I can't offer any quilting advice but there are many knowledgeable people here to help you.
|
OOOOh, I can see some quilted lines in the same color up and down beside the designs. I wouldn't change the design by quilting in a different direction. It seems like if you quilted in the same directions it would puff it out. Just my opinionl It is so beautiful! Also, on the flower I would go beside the designs. I wouldn't quilt along every petal. I would pick out a few designs and quilt around them. Now I don't know how to do this! LOL

How Van Gogh like! That is outstanding. I think the quilting should be simple - perhaps an all over large stipple.

gorgeous ! No help with the quilting ideas though you have received many from the board.
|
I'm getting so many good ideas, I wonder if I can combine some of them. I really appreciate all your compliments and suggestions. I knew the good people on this board would help.
|
That is gorgeous! What was the fabric that you used?
|
The fabric is Daydreams II by Stephanie Brandenburg for Camelot Cottons. It took 4 of the sunflower panels, and the borders were carefully chosen from striped yardage in the collection. I used wof for the top & bottom borders, and lof for the sides.

I don't know what you should quilt, but I would keep it simple. You don't want to take away from your beautiful design.
|
WOW - Just fantastic, great job and thank you for sharing
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
I have to try this technique. Yours is beautiful.
|
Oh WOW! This is simply gorgeous! Love all the colors and the flower is just beautiful!!
I too would keep it simple, the large stipple sounds good to me, or perhaps start with a small circle in the center, then gradiating circles throughout. This is the part that always gets me, always afraid to start the quilting part. Again, your quilt is Fantastic!!! !! |
OM goodness, so beeautiful
|
I vote for maybe flame like flowery lines that come out from the center. it makes me think of fire but that is just me. not so much the colors but the broken looking image. good luck and let us know what you do when your done
|
Gorgeous!!!
From the suggestions you have been given, I would go with the small stipple in the center of the flower surrounded by lines (squiggly or not) radiating out. Think the idea of leaves in the border would be pretty too. |
No suggestions, but, that is an amazing piece of art! Kudos!
|
One of my favorite flowers, love the quilt.
