Nephew's Graduation Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
About 16 years ago, I asked my sister in law to keep my nephew's t-shirts so I could do a graduation quilt for him. She delivered a large box full of them last November. I'm attaching a picture of the results. It took quilt a bit of math since not all the shirts had the same sized design. I went with the "strippy" setting and adjusted the sashing size where necessary. The shirts I had left over I made pillows and I did a matching pillow case from the sashing and border fabrics....his school colors are black and orange. Backed with a mottled light grey. Sent it to a long arm quilter and she did a terrific job using orange thread. A friend has done a label for me with a picture of Evan and I with embroidered lettering with date, etc. I've had it on the couch for over a week admiring my work and pulling everyone off the street to see it :-)

Wonderful quilt, not sure I could do that, but maybe one day I will try.

What a wonderful keepsake for Evan, I'm sure he loves it. Great job, and thanks for sharing.

Love it. You should show a picture of the label too. I would love to see how that came out. I have handed a box to each of my DSIL and my DS to save clothes from their kids for the exact same purpose. My Nana even wrote a poem that we attached to each of the boxes to remind them of the purpose.
