New Design Wall :-)

Some time ago I saw an article about how to make your own design wall from styrofoam insulation boards and batting. I've wanted to make one ever since. This weekend my DH fought the Christmas shopping crowds and went to Lowe's to get me the boards and other supplies (not that it was a real hardship for him to spend some time at the hardware store ... LOL). This morning he cut the boards for me and I went to work covering them with batting. I used a staple gun and duct tape (over the stapled batting on the back) to hold the batting on and then attached Command picture hanging strips on the top and sides. It is now attached to the wall but is easily removeable. It measures 7'x7' and is so much better than the dollar store flannel-backed table cloth I had up before. It is really lightweight and I can use pushpins to hold things up, if necessary. Merry Christmas to me!!! |
Very nice project finished and great gift.

:thumbup:Congratulations and well done!

Fantastic! I'd love to have a huge design wall like that. Unfortunately, no wall space. Mine leans against the bookcase so I can slide it away when necessary. Great work by you and your DH.

Looks great ... it will look wonderful with fabric, blocks etc on it soon!

Good job. I made one using just packing Styrofoam. the cat climbed it. OOPS!
|
Well done to DH a job well done.

Isn't it fantastic? I just made one yesterday after I saw someone do the same thing. I had some white flannel, which works great.

My king size bed is across the hall from my sewing room and it has a white chenille bedspread on it. That is my design wall!! While I would like one like you made I have no room for it.
Merry Christmas to all! |
