I think it is going to look very smart. I would like to see it again when you have a few more blocks done.
I never truly know if I like the quilt until its actually done! Keep going. I think it has good potential.
Lovely start! Just be aware, you need a lot of the same fabrics to continue the larger rounds.

For a true TATW you can’t keep the rounds small but you can create your own version. I think Bonnie Hunter has different TATW on her site Quiltville.blogspot.com under the free pattern tab called Scrappy Trip.

Looks great so far...keep posting photos of your progress.

I have 8 fabrics, so I will make some different blocks and play with it. This is my first Trip around the World and I may have misjudged the fabric requirements. Will make it as big as I can.

Your start looks great. Go girl!

I love it!!

Can't wait to see more! I think it looks wonderful so far :)

The color patters are regal! A quilt made for a king! I for one can't wait to see it finished.
Sure looks like a great start to me.

Nice job so far! I love the directional prints in the rounds. You do a great job of pointing them in one orientation for the small blocks. You know, if you make 16 of these small blocks and play around with them, you will see a secondary pattern emerge. You can have one gold center next to a pattern center just by grouping this medium size block together. I hope you can understand what I mean. Please show us what you decide.
I think it will make an interesting, unique quilt.
it wonderful to me keep going, the color just right!
Fabrics look great together!
Very pretty---love the colors and your fabric choice.
I think the fabrics you've chosen are wonderful!!!
Looking great so far.

Thank you for all the encouragement, I usually do brighter colors, and this one being a little subdued is kind of a challenge.
Love your choice of fabrics. It’ll turn out great!

Final layout for my Trip Around the World. Started out so excited, but finished not so excited. I don’t like it. I think that I do better with bright happy colors rather than a subdued pallet. I may add a small border and use it for a tablecloth for my holiday trailer.

I need to add my 2 cents........about 25 years ago, my husband and I went to Shipshewanna, and I saw the TATW quilt on the wall at whatever store I was in(memory doesn't let me remember specifics), and I said I wanted to learn to make it. so, purhased the book.........looked at it.........let it sit for about 15 years. I purchased fabrics for it finally, because we purchased a king sized bed.......yay me........I'm gonna make THAT quilt. So started my quilting world.....I did all the cutting and measuring just like the book said, and then I !!!! Now what??? A couple of years later,a friend invited me to Shipshewanna for a quilt retreat, and strongly encouraged me to bring all of my pieces with me to finally complete the quilt. I did so, and whilst assembling the four quadrants of the quilt together to make the quilt, it was on the floor at the retreat, and everybody kept coming over and telling me how much they loved it. The bottom line is that it was identical in color to your block that you first put up on your thread. But after having read all the responses and suggestions from the others, the picture you ended with is sooooooo different, yet sooooooo beautiful. It sure shows how you can take one block and make something different from it. I do not have a camera to take a picture to share with you, as I'd rather spend money on fabric rather than film. But I think you really did yourself proud with your finished product. I appreciate sharing the identity of the quilt colors with you.

Looking lovely! Love the colours....
