My lucky day, I got some new/old feedsacks in the orginal sack condition. They are in mint condition. I rarely get any that are still in the sack.
You can see how the sacks are sewn together with very heavy thread. Outside inside stitching |
So . . . . . . . . what are you going to do with them??

I have a bit of a collection of feedsacks and usually take them with me when I am speaking at our local historical society. At one time it was estimated that over 70% of the American population was clothed in feedsack.
My father and grandparents spoke of when the pattern changed how my Granny would go and pick out the patterns she wanted for the family's Clothing. I love feedsack :) |
Awesome find!! :D

I can remember well the ladies telling their hubbys what bags to buy so they could use them for pillowcases and even clothes. Now, I am feeling OLD!

I didn't wear feed sacks clothes, but my DH remembers his mother making all his and his sisters clothes out of feed sacks. She would tell her DH how many to buy. I have over 800 and can't resist them. Actually DH is the one who seeks them out.
