Those are sooooooo adorable!!! I love the last two! especially the yellow one! Oh now i want to make a gnome quilt! lol

BeachBirdie 01-08-2010 09:39 AM

All I can think of is that little guy from the commercials...lol. The yellow fabric is sorta creepy.

Chele 01-08-2010 09:39 AM

I love the bottom two as well! Gnomes are huge in the modern quilting circles.

You mean the Travelocity gnome? Well, they have him too... though he's not that new, "born" a month or two ago:

Sugarpumpkin 01-08-2010 09:50 AM

I find him creepy LOL

Sandy1951 01-08-2010 09:51 AM

I really like them; my favorites are the first three.

KBunn 01-08-2010 09:57 AM

I want gnome fabric...how cute!!

momto4 01-08-2010 09:57 AM

yuck. I do not care for gnomes at all. but thats just me!

magnolia 01-08-2010 10:04 AM

I love gnomes!! I especially like the first three. When I was a kid there was a cartoon called "David The Gnome" it was a cute show.

I think these might appeal more to Europeans. What do our readers from the UK think?

I'm thinking, "kinda of cute" but probably would not be something I would buy. They look appropriate for children's quilts but US kids don't have much of a clue about gnomes and would rather have Dora, Curious George or so on.

Marjpf 01-08-2010 10:38 AM

I recently bought 2 yards of the first one. Don't have a plan for it yet, but my daughters gave me a garden gnome last year and no I'm hooked on the little guys!
Any great ideas on how to use it?

I don't care for gnomes either, but I think the fabrics are cute for those who do like gnomes!

Not a fan of gnomes...currently anyhow.

beachlady 01-08-2010 01:08 PM

My Dh loves gnomes - not me. Though I did give him one for Christmas for his garden.

BKinCO 01-08-2010 02:16 PM

I want these patterns in scrapbook paper!!! They are cute!

littlehud 01-08-2010 02:41 PM

They are OK, but I really don't like gnomes.

Oklahoma Suzie 01-08-2010 02:54 PM

Cute.

janRN 01-08-2010 02:54 PM

I love them. I usually don't like novelty fabrics-don't know how to use them. But I LOVE gnomes!! I'm going to be one of your crazy neighbors with gnomes all over her yard and garden!! OMG if I walked into a fabric store and saw these I'd think I died and went to heaven.
Now you all know how nuts I am!!

hapytlk 01-09-2010 12:20 PM

like all but the yellow background ones. I love yellow and red so that surprised me!

Makes me think of The Amazing Race when they have to find the Travelosity Gnome. :-)

ok this mushroom one with the polka dots has hope. Wish they looked like that book that came out what 20 yrs ago on Gnomes? so much cuter .. The colors are still in a mode that is vintage like without being old fashioned (which is cute).. must be the colors of the new year? egad. Time to shop now before the good stuff is all gone!

barbsbus 01-09-2010 10:30 PM

I love gnomes and so did my mother. The last few years of her life she started to buy a lot of them to be outside one of her windows and amonst the plants in her patio. I used to drive up (9 hours if the cops weren't out) and take her shopping and do what ever she needed help with that she didn't want to ask the caretakers to as she was in an assisted living facility. We would go shopping and buy new plants and gnomes, and she had them all named and she would instruct me as to where they should be and we spent hours positiing them in the exact locations and then she would make up stories about what they were saying to each other and it was fun for both of us. Now I have her collection in my back yard and it brings back fond memories. Mother was in a wheel chair and could not do a lot of things and now I am beginning to know what she was going through.

I am a UK transplant in Aus...I love gnomes (but not in my garden). The first pics are more my cup of tea ...I like my fantasy characters to be "traditional" rather than modern or comic. Thanks for sharing your story Barb, I can imagine your Mother's little friends must give you much cheer on a grey day.
