Great idea that you had ... and now we'll all be looking around for our collector tea towels that we stashed because we didn't know what to do with them!! :) |

Great idea that you had ... and now we'll all be looking around for our collector tea towels that we stashed because we didn't know what to do with them!! :) http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/...ry=1&year=1975 I always thought that the calendar changed every 11 years but according to this site, it's 38 years. Well, 2011's calendar will be the same in 2022 so that's 11 years. Anyway, it will be lots of fun using these old numbers in a quilt. I think they will blend perfectly with all those selvage edges I've been saving, mixed in 'week by week,' haha. (one week on one selvage, another week with another selvage). Yes, it's time ladies to dig thru our oldies and put them to good use! What good are they doing laying in the moth balls? I just can't wait to use all the numbers in something! I know you all will have fun digging through the old linens to add new life to and the sequined calendars would be beautiful as blocks! Can't wait to see what everyone does with them! I just finished looking at your 3 quilts real quick and they are just adorable! Those sheep are so cute and love all 3, especially your avatar! Thank you sooo much, QuiltE!! You have great ideas!! :-D :-D :-D |

:-D :-D :-D And thank you too .... there's another thread that I was just reading where someone used the old embroidered tea towels and made a family type quilt. Sadly, no pictures though. Well I have those embroidered sets of tea towels too .... hhmmmm!! Which also gets me to thinking about the embroidered pillow cases that have never been used. Why oh why did we all stash these things and think they should not be used? |

N2ScrapLvr "... we all stashed these lovelies away because we can't part with them (!), but we need to bring them out and display them in some way and somehow on something! Those embroidered pillowcases are too precious to hide away in a closet somewhere! And the tea towels could be given new life in a unique quilt just like the one you read about. I think about the girl with the Etsy shop making adorable birdhouses out of vintage fabrics! They were so irrisistible when she got done with them. These tea towel parts could be used the same way! Happy repurposing to you! Hope you can bring out the best of your lovelies!"
I think we kept them because we were keeping them for "good"! Just like the china dishes that many of us had and only kept for company. I have lots of dishes now and keept buying old ones as I see them ... I do use them! The linens ... I've been saying I am going to pitch out all my old tea towels and start using the new now old but unused embroidered ones .... now you're making me think not! Keep them for a quilt or wall hanging or? The pillowcases ... I probably didn't use them as that meant wrinkled cottons ... unless I ironed and that was not a passion for me! :) |
cute mini n2, I spy with my little eye a couple of fabrics :-) G

I've seen lots of those at a local thrift store and now I'll look at them much differently. Thanks for the tip.
