New Preemie Quilts

6 Attachment(s)
It's so easy and it's so much fun to sew these tiny quilts for the preemies! And so I made some and they are all send off because they are needed in the hospitals for the little ones! And it's good for using up some scraps...

What is the size of the quilts . I have been making preemie clothes for over 18 years. We have been meeting over once a month for over 18 years.

I went to Threads of Love but didn't see anything listed for the size of a quilt. Our church group of sewers have been thinking of making some preemie quilts. Love the quilts that you posted 1000Scraps.

You all asked for the size: they should be between 26" and 32", not bigger! Top and backside should be cotton, backside may even be flannell, the batting should be polyester because there is high air humidity in the incubators and cotton batting will getting clammy! These are the guidelines we get over here!
And not too much quilting, they shall be cuddly and soft!
And thanks for your kind comments!

Very cute and so clever. Great way to use up extra fabric that you may not have enough of for larger projects.

What a wonderful project for those tiny babies. They are so cheerful. My nephew's son was 2 lb 9 oz when he was born, causing great stress for his parents. A quilt like yours would certainly have helped. (He's six now and just fine).

Dclutter64 09-20-2014 04:07 AM

These are so cute! Very nice quilts!

Just look at post #8 in this thread: they should be between 26“ and 32“, I have there some more information which we got over here!

Great project. I've made some, too, but thought they were to be only 18".

Thank you so much for sharing these! They are gorgeous and so loving and kind too! I make pillowcases for the pediatric/ICU but never thought of doing this for the tiny ones. And I get to use up my scrap box! Win Win!
