I am almost done. I would like an opinion of what color should I use to handknot.

wolfkitty 11-01-2010 02:10 PM

Do you want it to stand out or blend in? A light gray would blend in, one of the colors of your quilt would stand out more. You could use several colors, if that's not a problem.

bjnicholson 11-01-2010 02:12 PM

I think a white would be best.

I have several colors and thought of that or maybe blue.

Whats your favorite color? Use that or- who ever you made it for use their favorite color. Would be surprised how picking it brings that color out in your "scrappy" quilt. I find that helps bring a quilt altogether and then bind in same color. What ever you decide will be wonderful.

sandilee 11-01-2010 02:40 PM

white

Harmony 11-01-2010 02:52 PM

I've never tied a quilt, so I can't help you much there, but I just wanted to say that I think your quilt is beautiful! I love that scrappy look!

quiltsRfun 11-01-2010 03:14 PM

As I read the replies above me I agreed with each one. I think it would work no matter what you decide. Congrats on finishing the quilt. I love it! In fact I've had it on my list of quilts to do one just like it. :)

DebraK 11-01-2010 03:23 PM

i like off white.

leonajo 11-01-2010 03:27 PM

great quilt, very bright and snuggly. White would work well, but any color/colors would look nice :)

bj 11-01-2010 03:45 PM

Just pick one. It's in there somewhere! :-D Love your quilt!

Kitsapquilter 11-01-2010 03:47 PM

I like your quilt. You could even use a variegated to tie it with. Are you using floss or perle cotton or what? Let us know what you decide.

Susy 11-01-2010 03:47 PM

I don't know what colour but just wanted to compliment you, that is a great looking quilt, wish my scrappy would look that good.

Halo 11-01-2010 04:22 PM

Whatever color you use for the binding I would use to tie it with.

vic 11-01-2010 04:57 PM

I discovered lots of purples, yellows and black embor. flos.
I have enough of all the complete the handknotting. so that solved that. Thanks for all the compliments. will post when done knotting.

I would do a large stipple, that is how I do most of my quilts. Just me, I don't like tied quilts. Very pretty.

Beautiful quilt!

What color is the backing? Depending on how busy the back is, the ties will show a bit there...do you want them to stand out or blend in? Pretty much any color would look good with the quilt top.

auntmag 11-01-2010 05:33 PM

I suggest black or a variegated thread.

blue10moon9 11-01-2010 05:44 PM

I'd use blue.

just-sew-together 11-01-2010 06:01 PM

Antique white would look great... since the quilt has an OLD FASHION FLAIR to it. Stark white might be a bit harsh. I love this type of quilt.....it looks wonderful. BTW... Pearle Cotton has a nice soft antique white.

littlehud 11-01-2010 06:10 PM

I like white on tied quilts.

we think alike. I discovered I had black, yellow and purple floss. on the diagonal I have a row of each color. so far it looks good. I've been hand knotting for hours and had to stop, my fingers are sore. I have to give them a rest.

SuziC 11-02-2010 03:02 AM

Great quilt! No matter which you choose :!:

paintedquilt 11-02-2010 07:50 AM
