Nice quilt! Hopefully someone with more experience will come along and discuss the puckers with you.

Very nice work

Have you ironed the quilt yet? You should try to get it as flat as possible. As the quilting will only enhance any puckers.

I'd try Mary Ellens Best and try to press out any puckers as best I could. But unless you plan on entering it in a contest, quilt it and enjoy it. Pretty big project for a newbie---congratulations. My first one was a doll quilt.

Do free motion quilting, wash and dry it and I bet you won't even notice them. FMQ gives a puckery look to smooth quilts. Make big fmq. It will look great!!!

what puckers?! lol! like everyone else said..press it with starch. (don't try to "iron" it,back and forth,it will make it worse)
it is beautiful and a heck of a first quilt..mine was a rag quilt...after i knocked out about 10 of them, i came out of the box, and started piecing!

You go girl!

nice job

cashmommy11 03-22-2010 01:33 PM

thank you all . you have made me feel much better about this ...

watterstide 03-22-2010 01:37 PM

anytime you are sewing or quilting, and your getting frustrated..Step away from it! you will just either make it worse, or frustrate yourself to no end!
i find it helps, if i mark or make a note of my original tension settings,so i can beck to my original settings for regular piecing.
do you have other thickness of threads? you can try something different in the machine.

You are doing very well. Keep at the quilt making. I agree with pressing it and FMQ.

quiltinggirl 03-22-2010 05:11 PM

Very nice job! I think the puckers will be less noticeable once you iron it and quilt it.

Barb_MO 03-22-2010 05:21 PM

This is a very nice first quilt. You should be proud of it.

I find when I sew two pieces of fabric that was cut lengthways of the bolt that my seams pucker a little bit. They aren't so noticable after quilting. I prefer to sew cross grain to the length grain when I can, but can't always do that.

Very nice Great job

I think it turned out great. Wonderful job.

cool. I think that after it is quilted then washed and dried, the puckers will shrink into the quilt. There are not very many of them. It is really beautiful. Lots of work.
