New Sewing Room

I finally got my dream sewing room 3 weeks ago. Thought I would share with you. I sew, quilt, and embroider. I just retired after 27 years, and am so enjoying staying home and having company, and family come to visit, whenever we want instead of scheduled vacation days. I hope you enjoy my pictures and if you have any questions please ask. I had an earlier post a few years ago on here, when I went from the bedroom into this same room but tee tiny, now it is 20x20 I am one proud lady to get the quilter out of the living room. I got lots of ideas from this site, and pinterest. the cutting/irioning table are two doors, they can stay together or I flip a hook and it becomes two and they are on rollers, and I love my thread/stabilizer rack.

Oh and my feathered friends come by often during the day to eat, sewing ceases when they visit. and if you will look in picture 3 on the wall where you see a board in an L shape, that is where the room was

Nice! I'm moving next week and I get a small finished basement. To sew in. There's a window, but nothing like this. This is what my sewing room wants to be when it grows up!

My sewing room wants to be clean!!

Your room is very nice -- how fortunate to have that much room! Course my granddaughter tells me I would have more room if I would just stop buying fabric!

Very nice room.

What a delightful room! I seem to be all over my house...fabric is stored in the basement where I was going to have a sewing room but I felt isolated down there. I sew in a room near my kitchen, used the free-standing bar for my cutting table and iron in the front hallway. I do that so I will move and not just sit in the same spot all day...it is my FORCED exercise. LOL

janiesews 06-06-2014 05:30 AM

Enjoy your space and you have some wonderful organization there. Very nice. I can tell a lot of thought went into your space.

ManiacQuilter2 06-06-2014 06:20 AM

Very nice. You made a great layout. Just be very carefully because of the indirect sunlight can fade your fabrics. You might want to make a light quilt to cover the fabric to keep them safe from the sunlight. Nothing worse then to find the fabric faded on the fold. That happened to me.

Carol34446 06-06-2014 07:25 AM

Lucky you, enjoy and post what you make in the great space.

IrishgalfromNJ 06-06-2014 07:36 AM

You are extremely lucky to be able to have such a great sewing room, especially with room for a long arm. I really am envious of you. I almost had a room like that, but then the economy tanked and we had to move to an apt., although I still have my little corner in my bedroom for quilting, so I'm making do with what I have.

callie 06-06-2014 09:50 AM

Oh WOW, it's wonderful! I know you are going to enjoy sewing and quilting in this wonderful room for many years to come. Congrats

mlt150 06-06-2014 11:37 AM

You have a beautiful sewing room!! Love your organizing and the cutting/ironing space. I am curious what cutting mat you use? I cut on my kitchen island which looks to be about the size of yours...long but not wide. Enjoy!

almond 06-06-2014 12:04 PM

lfstamper 06-08-2014 04:29 PM

Did you build the stabilizer stand and thread holder? Really like your space.

Tinker Tots 06-22-2014 04:01 AM

I have 2 36x24 olfa cutting mats together side by side. When you put the 2 together it is exactly one more inch.
