I finally tried Paper Piecing.

I really like it, its tedious but I like it.

thequilterslink 03-12-2010 12:17 PM

very nice! i have a pp quilt started, very slow going for me, but the points are fabulous

zyxquilts 03-12-2010 12:22 PM

Looks terrific!
And really, the more you do, the faster, easier & less tedious it gets. Honest!

Stunning. Cannot believe that is your first block. Fabulous!

It's beautiful. Well worth the time and effort. I can't wait to see the finished quilt.

krazy4quilts 03-12-2010 12:35 PM

Thanks

This is not going to be a quilt. This will go to a swap next week.

Jingle 03-12-2010 12:39 PM

Very pretty block, you did a great job on it.

BKinCO 03-12-2010 12:47 PM

Hey! That's the same block I'm trying to PP. I've already ripped it apart 3 times :)

krazy4quilts 03-12-2010 12:51 PM

LOL on the ripping, 1 time one of the fabrics was folded caddy wompas, 1 of the rippings i had to wide of a seam and it didnt meet the seam allowance (about a hundred times. I have ripped out more on PP'ing than I have anything else.

I have learned what to do and what NOT to do now.

jljack 03-12-2010 01:29 PM

Same with me...it goes kinda slow and is somewhat tedious, but I LOVE the end result. Those straight lines and sharp corner points just SING to me!!! :-D

Harmony 03-12-2010 01:45 PM

And you did a beautiful job. Are you hooked yet?????

joykey 03-12-2010 01:58 PM

I just took a paperpiecing class this past Tuesday, been wanting to learn. I am now hooked!!!! I love it!!

Deb watkins 03-12-2010 02:33 PM

For a first time, you did a nice job. I also find PP tedious, but love the results. I did a wall hanging on Cinco de Mayo - 9 blocks. but it was well worth it!

Fiber Artist 03-12-2010 02:40 PM

nice job

dkabasketlady 03-12-2010 02:53 PM

Beautiful!!

littlehud 03-12-2010 03:00 PM

Your block looks wonderful. I'm wondering if I have the patience to do PP.

danmar 03-12-2010 07:20 PM

Great job! I've thought about trying to learn and have downloaded the instructions and paper pattern off the internet but I haven't tried it yet. Yours turned out beautiful. Maybe I should try it next.

Elisabrat 03-13-2010 05:09 AM

oh that came out nice! did you post in the BOM also to share your block? Love the color take on this one. I am still too chicken to even try paper piecing without a hands on lesson.

That quilt was fabulous and just wanted to tell you I had a dream about "Cinco de Mayo" your quilt!!! Don't remember anything else -- just the name!

:D :D

krazy4quilts 03-13-2010 05:43 AM

I do love how the points come out and the straight seams. I am pretty proud of myself. Will I do more? Probably, will I do them for a swap that has 12 or more blocks due...........Not sure.

I am sure once I got it down as to where each piece goes it would go alot quicker. We have a cook out today tilling the garden and hoping to work on the chicken coop this weekend so sewing will be very limited if any at all for this weekend. But I will be back at it come monday.

n2scraplvr 03-13-2010 05:44 AM

You've done excellent for the first time!!! WTG!! Your GC are so dear in that picture! PPing is well worth the time to achieve quality results! You'll get faster the more you do of it. It will get easier too! Looking forward to seeing the whole swap block done. :D :D

renee765 03-13-2010 06:18 AM

That is a beautiful block! Is paper piecing like foundation piecing with muslin, only you remove the paper instead of leaving the muslin in the block?

sandpat 03-13-2010 06:23 AM

Great job! Wish my first block had looked that good!

Good question, I am not sure. Maybe someone else can answer that.

wvdek 03-13-2010 08:18 AM

You did great! Hope to see more of your work in the BOM for 2010. We would love to have you join us there.

krazy4quilts 03-13-2010 09:58 AM

I had intentions to do the BOM 2010 but that 1st one intimidated me, I know I can do it, I just have to wrap my head around it and sit down and do it. Maybe this week. I did get the idea from your Feb BOM tho.

Thanks

Dix 03-13-2010 10:02 AM

alaskasunshine 03-13-2010 11:18 AM

that would be gorgeous for a veteran    wow i could see eagles for sashing :!: oh you did a beautiful job! how long did it take you to make it? i have never done pp before :|

krazy4quilts 03-14-2010 06:54 AM

Dix I live in east Norman.

It took me the better part of the morning to make it about 4 hours, with it being my 1st Pp I thought not to bad. I did have to rip out a few times, I didnt get some pieces to meet the seam allowance.

socr8v 03-14-2010 07:04 AM
