This is the first attempt at quilting. I help my 12 year old grandson with his
school project. The wall hanging is Underground Railroad. Several mistakes, although I do not point them to those looking at our project.

What a great job! This will certainly be something he can be proud of and hold onto for many years.

How neat, what a great idea for a school project.

Very nice. I hope your grandson knows the meaning behind the quilt. The individual blocks are a map to the next station on the railroad.

Thanks to all comments. Yes, he does know the meaning of each block. We wanted to make more, but since this was the first I didn't have the courage to make more. It took me several weekends to get this one done. He helped sew, and cut out the blocks.

Great job - glad to know that you are passing along the love of quilting! He should be very proud.

Great school project, with a little bit of research and creativity. I'd say very, very nicely done!

Thanks for the encouragement. I want to make a Turning Twenty quilt using
green and burgundy material. A lady from Murfreesboro entered one in the
Algood Quilt Festival in September 09, and it was beautiful.

What a nice thing for you to work on together. This is what I call "making memories". Your grandson will always remember doing this with you. A+

What a great project for his class. Lets them know we had to communicate in other ways "back then". Also is giving him skills in cutting measuring and sewing and a great time with you. Sew many memories for both of you. :D
