I've started a new little wall hanging so I can try my hand at a Dresden plate design. The pattern is called Dresden Lane (Quiltmaker - May/June 2010). It calls for embroidery in the circular center and then you stitch around the "plates" with a running stitch. Very basic but I thought a good one to try Dresden on.

It is looking very good, be sure to keep us posted.

Thanks. I thought for this one, instead of doing the mailbox that was shown in the pattern, I'd use the center and put my label there.

This pattern was soooo easy to do. Yes, Connie...I will show you and you will agree. What do you think about using this yellow pattern for the center and background?

BonniFeltz 07-05-2010 01:43 PM

I didn't want plain white or muslin. I'm still looking through my stash though.

I think it looks nice. Im trying one too but haven't sewn it together yet..just cutouts. Am looking for Air Force fabric, have only 4 to go on it so far. Joann only had the Fleece in A.F.
Anybody knows where i can find any? It's for my SIL, who deserves to be known that he's appreciated.

I'm kinda thinking maybe something a bit lighter.

Yes, I agree, too distracting.

I like this smaller version. I agree you need something less distracting. Very nice though.

What about a pale lavendar or baby blue solid?? Yellow is too strong, I think. Personally, I like muslin cream to back the Dresden. However, with your colors, I think the pale shade of blue, or lavendar would be a nice change. You are doing an excellent job with piecing.

jljack 07-05-2010 08:35 PM

I like the colors you chose. I think it's gonna look great!!!

BonniFeltz 07-06-2010 10:37 AM

Didn't think of Lavendar or baby blue. Will have to see what I have and pull it out to look at it. THANKS!
