leslee, what an incredible quilt. love the color. this is one that will be cherished always. beautiful work.

You know Leslee, I’ve never ceased to be amazed by your work (stands up to applaud), and truly you are the inspiration to my own rough attempts in the craft; but truly you advance quilting into art, and one which I can only gaze from afar at.
When I saw you working on the beauties at work and my heart stopped. Looking through the net, I think I’ve spotted the two sights you mentioned: http://www.lenzula.com/pattern/free/nyb.php http://quilterscornerclub.tripod.com/free_ny_new_york_beauty_quilt_block_patterns.html Of course, in the end, I’ll surely dabble in this only because I admire the work you’ve done so much. I went ahead and read the basic directions on both sites, but don’t really understand the inner workings and machining. Heck, I’ve barely scratched the surface of the Hawaiian quilting you introduced me to; once again, due to your beautiful work I can’t wait to get to New York Beauties. Could you please do me a favor and post the really colorful piece you’ve been working on at work so these folks can see it? Also, make the picture larger so they can really come to appreciate what you are doing; the points are amazing. |
It is awesome... I love it..

Hey folks, get a look at the avatar. Yikes!

Oh wow, Leslee, just gorgeous. Not only do you have the precision piecing down, but your colors are awesome too. Of course the baby will love purple! :D :D Make more!

The block is called New York Beauty, and the sites Steve quoted are good sources. There's a step-by-step picture tutorial at the quilterscornerclub site that's very helpful. I'm sure it could be template-pieced, but paper piecing is the fastest method and maybe the most accurate. There are also pieced curves in both arcs for an additional challenge! Thanks to everybody for your kind comments! I gave the quilt to the Parents-to-be yesterday and they liked it a lot. |
Oh, what a great gift for that baby!! You do beautiful work. I wish I liked to paper piece to do quilts like this, but I just can't force myself to do them. So I will admire yours!!
