This is is the first quilt I ever made back in 2008. After my mother passed away I realized my grandchildren would not be getting homemade quilts like the older ones had received. I decided I better figure out how to make them. This lap quilt is made from all of her homemade dresses and aprons. I cut them all into 6 inch squares and had enough for myself and my two sisters each a small quilt. That got me hooked and I'm still trying to figure it all out. I'm learning, but it's a slow process. Here are a few I've made. I love baby quilts and receiving blankets and purses and bags. Next is to learn my new to me mid arm machine.

Great projects. I see you have a Grace frame. My 1st one was a Grace Pro 10ft. I ended up beefing up the poles with conduit over them as I kept advancing my quilts too tightly so bowed them. Its a great frame to start out with.

Keep up the good work.

Lovely collection you have there. I think it's great you decided to continue the quilting tradition.

Carol, please remember that we ALL started out as newbies. You did a great job in cutting up those items into 6" squares. Glad you got hook. Take your time learning to use your new toy. FMQ can take some time to acquired the skills for consistent stitches. Good Luck and have fun.

It's wonderful that you're carrying on your mother's tradition of making quilts for the family. She would have appreciated that.

Congratulations on entering the wonderful world of quilting. We were all newbies. I still learn with every quilt I make and try to stretch my skills along the way. Your quilts are lovely. Keep going and keep learning; that's what makes it interesting and a continual challenge.
