This is my first completed quilt from the material that was 'rejected' for the Christmas gift quilt. I figured I'd practice on this one, and it is completed. The 'gift' is all pieced together and waitting more $$ to purchase the material for backing and batting. The practice quilt gave me some difficulty when it came time to bind. The binding wasn't as easy as the piecing it all together and machine quilting, but turned out.

LOve the butterflies.

kwiltkrazy 11-22-2010 08:27 PM

It turned out really nice, but practice does make it a lot easier. I can't tell you how many bindings I have done, but now, I hardly have to think how to do it, it just comes naturally.

koipuddle 11-24-2010 07:10 AM

Thank you everyone. These were rejects as I was just buying material I thought went together, the other material is shades of brown, tan, yellows (solid), and my wife said the blues just didn't fit in. The next project is actually all pieced together into a queen size, and it's a disappearing 9 block, with sashing in between each 9 block; the sashing is brown. I thought green, but after my wife and I put the blocks against both, I thought the brown was better as well. The new quilt top is actually better than the practice quilt, as I learned much on the practice run. I have donated it at work to be given as a Christmas gift to a female resident that does not have family to buy for her.
Thanks for the kind words, sure hope the binding gets easier fast; course the other 3 corners looked better than the first, so even this quilt was improving.
