no I have not heard about them. Can you give more information on how I can contact them. Once my boys are home, I will have to stop sending these because I will not have anyone to send them to. Unless you personally know someone to except them, you can not send them so I will be looking for ways to keep this up once my boys are home.

I'm not sure where you are located but they are right Newport News on the other side of the James River Bridge. It is a great quilt shop and you couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of people. The owner was approached last Fall from a service member that was home on leave. There is a link on thier web site called service project and it tells all about it and what the women over there have to endure; they are treated so poorly from the people who are supposed to love them. They can be killed by family members and it doesn't matter. The thought is that if they teach these women how to sew (on treadle since there is no electric, the shop has gotten alot of people to donate thier treadle machines to send over there) then they won't be so desparate for money where they may be forced to work against our men and women in order to survive. It such a great cause. Here is the web site: http://www.bellafabricsva.com/...I hope your loved ones return home soon. We are retired Navy and I know how hard it is to have them so far away from you. Take care.

Bless your heart! These will be so loved and appreciated :D:D:D

JudieRQuilting 07-12-2011 09:13 AM

All of the quilts are awesome. The baseball fabric in the first quilt is a clever idea. After all, what is more American than baseball?

katyquilter 07-12-2011 09:31 AM

Wonderful job! Keep up the good work!

Kallen 07-12-2011 10:03 AM

What a wonderful heart you have to make these awesome quilts for our brave men and women. Sounds like your son's units must have a quilt on every bed! What a picture of love that must be. Thank your sons for me for their service. And God bless you for your beautiful quilts of love and comfort for our troops!

Good for you! These are beautiful and yes, they will be loved and appreciated. I talked to a soldier heading that way, and I asked him..... he said, "by all means" they could use them.
Keep up the good work. :)

I live about 4-5 hours away from there but will check out their website.

I got a call last night from the oldest boy, he is asking for 6 more quilts to give to some of the locale families there. He say I can take some time in getting them as they won't need them just yet but he wanted to get his order in early. LOL I guess he knows how swamped I can get with doing all these. It seems that some of the locales are in much need of things to just get them through the winter months and I use blankets instead of quilt batting in all my quilts because the boys say they are a lot warmer.

Since I have permission to finish the big one I was working on before getting these out I guess I better get started. LOL I have a feeling before this is all done he will be asking for more so I may have to try and stock up on some before winter starts just in case.

Hear, hear! beautiful work! THANK YOU for supporting our troops! My son-in-law is a Marine who's served in Kosovo, 2 tours in Iraq and is in 29 Palms now awaiting pre-deployment training.

Baseball Mom 07-13-2011 12:25 PM

Would you be able to tell me where you purchased that blue baseball fabric you have in your first quilt?

MargeD 07-13-2011 01:03 PM

What a wonderful labor of love and I'm sure they will be greatly appreciated.

That was either from Hancocks or Joanns, I was running around so much the day I got it I'm really not sure which one I got it from but I did buy all they had on the bolt because they only have about 3 yds left.
I think it was Joanns but I'm not sure.
