I've been supervising 2 of our GD sewing this early summer. 10 yo made 2 sets of pillowcases.
The 13 yo pulled these fabrics from my stash and bought pink minkee for the backing. She even LA a meander on my LA!

All the projects look great! They did a great job, so they must have a great teacher!

Tartan 06-26-2019 11:14 AM

Well done!! That made cute projects and I think they are hooked!

QuiltE 06-26-2019 11:18 AM

WOW!!!!
Like chips off the Old Grandma Block! :)
(no offense on the old part!)

*gasp* re 10yo and horses ..... whaaaaaaaaat no cows?
Cute! Noticed that she coordinated her footwear for the photo op too!!

A beautiful quilt for the 13yo and one she will use for a long time.

Nice to see the two have such individual styles/choices of their colours/fabrics.

They are SO lucky to have you as their teacher, mentor .... and Grandmamama!
Wonderful memories for the three of you for years to come!

Jingle 06-26-2019 12:01 PM

The girls made great projects. I hope they keep making things.

oksewglad 06-26-2019 12:10 PM

Hey thanks...what I forgot to mention as later this summer these 2 and 2 older Grands are planning a sewing bee to help Gma use up her stash. I'm working on putting some kits together.

And she choose a Jersey for her first 4-H project animal!

annievee 06-26-2019 12:23 PM

Very nice and know it was a lot of fun !

Sharonquilts 06-26-2019 12:24 PM

How wonderful. My friend and I always said we were "building memories" when we did things with our children and now with our GC. My DGD (just turned 13) isn't much into sewing but she loves to bake ... but she does like for me to make things for her. I plan to surprise her with a photo album soon of the cakes and cookies we've made together. You should start a photo album with them.

QuiltnNan 06-26-2019 12:25 PM

wow, great work from them, what a joy to pass on the craft

nativetexan 06-26-2019 03:33 PM

Oh those are great!!

maryb119 06-26-2019 03:58 PM

Great job, girls!!!

dunster 06-26-2019 04:08 PM

What amazing granddaughters!

Maureen NJ 06-26-2019 04:35 PM

They did a great job. I learned to sew through 4-H many years ago (and from my Mom as well) and this brought back many happy memories. Great organization and great Grandma too!

grannie cheechee 06-26-2019 04:49 PM

You are so lucky that your grands want to do this craft with you!!. Only 1 of 3 DDs is even interested in quilting. Have 5 DGDs, 10 DGGDs, and they aren't interested. Your a good teacher as you can tell by their smiles!

osewme 06-26-2019 05:10 PM

What great projects the girls made. Looks like you will have competition before long. I bet they had a grand time sewing with you.

BrendaK 06-26-2019 05:48 PM

What wonderful items the girls have made. You must be so proud. They both did super jobs. BrendaK

zozee 06-26-2019 06:01 PM

How special that you have each other to enjoy this hobby together! Look at those proud faces and fun projects.

quiltingshorttimer 06-26-2019 08:04 PM

great job! bet both will do well with 4H fair. One thing I like most about my guild is our emphasis on providing sewing education opportunities for young folks.

4-H is such a good opportunity for young people. Good job, all of you, on those projects. Ribbons are on the way, I'm sure!

donna873 06-27-2019 03:27 AM

They done awesome on those projects!

Homespun 06-27-2019 05:05 AM

Mariposa 06-27-2019 07:21 AM

Great job girls, and kudos to Grandma!! Their projects are terrific! They are learning life skills, and spending quality time with you. Win-win! :)

Jordan 06-27-2019 08:20 AM

Looks like both girls did a fantastic job on their projects and with those smiles they seem to be so very pleased with their finished items. Must have had a great teacher!! It is nice to see future quilters.

lindsayfarm 06-27-2019 09:52 AM

jmoore 06-28-2019 02:31 AM

What great projects and lovely young ladies. You are lucky to have time with them...they will grow up so fast and before you know it, it will be boyfriends and college. Enjoy every moment!

... you just tell that wonderful kid that she has a Canuck beaming with pride for her!

I'm still in shock though, at her choosing that Jersey, over the OKGuernseys.
*gasp*

What a wonderful summer sewing bee that will be with the four GDs!
Hopefully it will become an annual tradition for the five of you.
... maybe their mothers will join in too?

Cybrarian 06-29-2019 07:06 AM

They did awesome! I remember those 4-H days, aprons were our first project, love their project choices!!

Sherryquilts 06-30-2019 07:22 AM

Thanks, Sherry...the quilt goes onto State Fair. Did you make it down to the Fair? It was in the center display of the 4-H building. The 10 yo wasn't eligible for SF, but she got a super blue on her pillowcases.

Ariannaquilts 06-30-2019 03:10 PM

They did an awesome job on their projects, do you mind sharing the name of the quilt pattern that she used?

That's great - going to the state fair! So wonderful to be able to share your love of sewing and quilting with your grands.

We didn't get to the HCF this week - we've had a busy summer so far, and then the weather keeps throwing us curve balls, we got 7.5 inches of rain early Friday morning - 6 of it in about 2-3 hours. So many houses had water in their lower levels because their sump pumps couldn't keep up. We didn't have any water in ours, but both of our kids that live here did so that's how we spent most of Friday/Saturday. And most everyone in Kasson is getting a new roof/siding because we had 2 to 4 inch sized hail at the beginning of the month. LOL - that was a long answer where 'no' would have been sufficient! Anyway, I saw some pics on FB - did you have bad weather today for the fair?

Sallybear6 07-01-2019 07:16 AM

They are off to a great start! So precious to share your talent with them and build memories!

Nasty weather everywhere this year. Started to rain around 3 on Sunday and just poured down with wind...I'm sure you know lots of trees down in town. Hope your folks didn't have any problems. Power off around 3:30 and off until 12:30 am. Late night milking cows!

This is a modified version of the Warm Wishes Pattern using a 5 inch cut for the squares. The strip sets were made from one 2 1/2" cut and two 1.75" cuts with added borders of 2 1/2" and 6 1/2".
