Dang!! Looks like I was right the first time when I ordered 8 charm packs. I was discounting the tonal browns in the design but I had included everything in my count.

Why don't I just stop thinking about it and sew....

Thinking can be hazardous to your driving. Don't we gals have quilting on the brain 24/7?

And Pam N., that's a riot. Fetal position?

Pam you will do okay with this what pretty colors you chose.

pittsburgpam 02-25-2009 12:38 PM

Definately quilting on the brain. Would you consider me seriously deranged if I told you that I sometimes wake up at 3:00am or so on the weekends, look at the clock, and think about getting up to work on something?

So far I have resisted doing it and just try to go back to sleep.

I am also making up for lost time. I gave up my sewing room for my grandson almost 2 years ago. I just got everything back in there and sorted out a few months ago and I've been going to town on it.

I don't just THINK about getting up. I DO get up. I'm not deranged, I've got insomnia. It sure comes in handy when I've a deadline to meet. :?

This is going to be beautiful!! The colors you've chosen are so warm.

pkrbkr 02-28-2009 10:46 AM

Your fabric and pattern is beautiful........what is final size to be??? Good luck.

pittsburgpam 02-28-2009 02:06 PM

If it comes out as I figure then the body will be 82 1/2 x 96 1/4. Not sure how wide I will do the border yet.

How big is a "normal" queen size? 88x100?

butterflywing 03-01-2009 07:17 AM

a queen bed is 80 x 60.

if you like a 15" drop and no pillow wrap then it should be

80 + 15 = 95" (at the foot only)
60 + 15 + 15 = 90" (because there are two drops).

remember that today's mattresses and boxsprings are higher than most instructions call for.

i personally like 96" square. don't as why. i think the squares are easier to plan. if you like to wrap the pillows, add another 10" to the length for the undertuck and the headboard tuck..,
or 7" to just drape it on top.

i hope this helps you.

Yes, that helps. I was wondering recently because one I am making has a very definate pillow tuck design.

I was reading about a quilt show and it said that entries must be at least 80" and no more than 100". The one I am working might be larger than that but I''ll have to check again.

96 square does sound like it would be a simple rule to follow.
