Great pattern, great colours, both of them. Is this pattern a bit like carpenter's circle? My younger son is a cabinet maker - he calls himself a carpenter; I've thought of making him a quilt in alternating carpenter's square and carpenter's circle blocks, maybe alternating light and dark tones. After the UFOs are finished, of course!! My older son is a lawyer, so maybe barrister's block and I think there are a few of those.

Thank you for building a quilt for your NICU. My wife has been a NICU nurse for 28 years-plus and also makes quilts for some of the kids. She makes them for those who have nobody at all -- yes, it is sad but true. If it is okay, with you, I would like to show her this pattern as there are other NICU quilters in her unit. I am sure she will enjoy it and even pass it on to her NICU colleagues.

The colors make it look 3 dimensional.

I have permission from quilter7x to post the layout of her avatar. I do think it either IS or similar to Carpenter's Wheel. I would suggest that you cut color one in 3-3/8 inch strips first, the left over can be cut down to 3" squares. You will need to cut from 44" wof three strips for color 1, two strips each of color 2 and 3.
Rats, it came out sideways. I don't know how to rotate this...sorry. All Fixed :-) |
