Niemeyer "Celtic Wave" My Favorite So Far

A couple of people asked to see this one that was underneath some others in a recent posting. This one is definitely my favorite so far. I worked on it over a one year period...not all the time...with many breaks when I began to get tired. I loved the fabrics, the pattern, and the whole paper piecing process. And now, I just love looking at it wondering how on earth I did it. It was FMQed on my little Brother 1500 which was a real challenge in itself. More like a tug of war trying to yank and pull the whole 97" square quilt through that little machine. It can be done!! Right now I am actually digging through all of the scraps left over from this quilt and trying to make another similar one with all the colors reversed...dark to light and light to dark. We'll see. I'm not sure I have quite enough left. It will have to be a wallhanging. Thanks for the inquiries.

That is beautiful. Did you mark the quilt design for quilting? Or did you just 'wing' it?

Stunning!!!

I winged it on the points and geese, but marked the larger leafy outer border and the center grid. I'm not confident enough to wing those larger areas.

Gorgeous! Makes me a little more confident of quilting large projects on my home machine - it CAN be done! Thanks for sharing!

That is a beautifully awesome quilt!!! The colors are beautiful and the quilting is really great. I know how hard it can be to quilt a large quilt on the home machine, I do it all the time. I think I would have sent yours out to a professional quilter if I had made it, as I am not real good at quilting. You have a real treasure!
