I made this for my sister and she wanted jean material. You will need a heavy duty machine, my machine is supose to be able to sew threw 10 layers of denuim and I had to whip out my heavy duty needle and my apholstery thread to sew about half of this because of how thick some of the areas were.

I had to put material over the top of the jean material so that the silver spots would not melt so I could get the PFF to iron on. Will never use material with this on it again.

the spots are silver

I broke a couple of needles and the thread half a dozen times. Suggestyou use a thick thread and a heavy needle or at least keep them on hand.

I do love it, it is cute and I saw the tan material and almost bought it before I even thought of making this purse. So I knew I had to go back and get it for this.

debcavan 06-05-2011 03:09 PM

Is that beautiful. At least since it was a nightmare, it turned out well. So I hope that made it worth it

rexie 06-05-2011 07:12 PM

It turned out great.

sewhat540 06-06-2011 02:59 AM

Love it, I have made many of them and they will always be popular. I see yours stand very straight, did you do them on some kind of filler between the fabric like canvas?

sewhat540 06-06-2011 03:01 AM

Fons and Porter have a new version out for that purse, I am going to try to make it, check it out and I am sure you would do fine.

joysewer 06-06-2011 04:52 AM

This is why I like to make things, we can reinforce the areas we think will need it and that makes them last longer.
