Thanks for the comments and sorry for the delay in my reply.
Yes, it is strip-pieced. 3 inch strips alternating black with anything. Then the strip set cut into 3 inch strips with every other one "flipped" to get the checkerboard effect. And you guessed the No binding technique also but I put my opening in the boarder of the quilt top, stitch-witch it down after turning, and then do a decorative stitch over the entire boarder. It is machine quilted diagonally through each black square, 1/2 inch from the fake boarder, and the inside boarder. The whole project took 3 days. |
What a fun quilt! You picked the best colors and it sounds like just what a quick qift quilt should be...for yourself or for a special gift! Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks Mimi (and all). This project was done as a "breather". I wanted to do some repetetive brainless sewing and I needed a break from the king that was in the frame and another project that required high concentration.
Also, I give away most of my quilts to friends and family, and of course, Project Linus. Last fall I made Hubby a Tony Stewart (NASCAR) recliner quilt, so this one was for me. :-) |
great idea..........
