No more aching shoulders!

Hi
Recently upgraded my Symphony to the Babylock Crescendo. Love my new machine (laser is great!) but it was higher than my other machines and my shoulders ached.
So asked DH is it was possible to recess it down into my big conference table I sew on. Today he did it, I love it!

It is amazing what a proper level to work at does for one's shoulders. Give him a hug for that job.

He did a wonderful job!

MartiMorga 10-06-2013 07:27 AM

I'm jealous. My husband is an electrician.

Luv Quilts and Cats 10-06-2013 07:49 AM

Looks nice! I am glad you found a way to solve the problem. I seem to remember growing up that most sewing cabinets recessed the machine and had a folding top that folded down to great a large surface for the fabric off to the left of the recessed machine. I have been sewing on the kitchen table and think I need to hunt up a recessed cabinet or something that can be converted. Thanks for the photo!

debcavan 10-06-2013 09:04 AM

Wonderful. We have to take care that we don't harm ourselves.

Nice job by your DH! Having machines at the right height makes a ton of difference!

mjhaess 10-07-2013 06:39 AM

Wow...That is great...

MargeD 10-07-2013 09:36 AM

It's nice to have a talented DH to help you out. I wish mine was, but he does the majority of the housework now because of my physical limitations, but I do the driving because he has severe vertigo. I guess it evens out, especially for the years I was a stay at home mom doing everything while he worked long hours.

Barbara Lee 10-07-2013 09:40 AM

I would love that Is there a pattern or do you buy something to set the machine in?

dilyn 10-07-2013 12:07 PM

Oh you lucking girl, you! Looks perfect!

MacThayer 10-07-2013 03:02 PM

What a beautiful job your husband did for you. I hope you rewarded him handsomely for this! I wish my husband could do carpentry, but the last time he tried to hang a picture, he put a 7" diameter hole in the wall. Sigh! But my hubby has many other talents for which I am grateful, so I'll let this one pass, and just be happy for you!

fred singer 10-07-2013 03:10 PM

awesome job

bepositive 10-07-2013 03:11 PM

jmoore 10-07-2013 03:56 PM

He traced around the machine, put painters tape down and measured many times, and cut it! Built a shelf underneath for the machine and put brackets to hold it firm. The Crescendo is heavy! Took most of the day as he was very careful and my machine has curves in front, wasn't simple!

Mimiqwerty 10-07-2013 06:12 PM

My hubby did the same for me when I got my Babylock Crescendo. Don't you just love that machine? I can FMQ all day with no sore muscles!

zozee 10-07-2013 06:17 PM

Kudoes to your hubby. I'm sure you thanked him heartily for taking a load off your shoulders:)

It's so nice to have a helping Hand around! I'm happy for you! Your machine looks great!

QandE2010 10-10-2013 05:45 PM

Very nice. Now the Machine is tucked in it's own space and this should really help your shoulders.
