No wine involved

I love sharing my goofs with all of you who appreciate the humor (and the ripping out that will follow). I was not drinking and was taking the pieces off the design wall to stitch together. Even so.
These are the corners cut off from the blocks used on the quilt front. Didn't want to waste them. I have enough of the theme fabric to finish out the rest of the back.

Doggramma 01-18-2016 09:29 PM

Oh dear. I hate it when that happens. Happy fixing!

ruby2shoes 01-18-2016 09:42 PM

Aarrrrgghhhh...now is the time for a wine and leave the unpicking till tomorrow or after you've had a coffee or two!! haha

I raise my unpicker to the sky in silent homage and respect for the task that is before you!!!

quiltingcandy 01-18-2016 09:50 PM

This is when a good sense of humor comes in very handy and a good seam riper. ;-)

DOTTYMO 01-19-2016 12:29 AM

Which design will you unpick, be careful.

skypony 01-19-2016 04:27 AM

I love the colors and the boo boo.

Quilter 65 01-19-2016 04:33 AM

I am reading a book now on designing, blending, merging, and exploding blocks. I just thought you had tried some of these techniques. I would go with that theory!

quilterpurpledog 01-19-2016 04:46 AM

It happens to all of us! I am unpicking or unsewing-which ever term you prefer. I am unpicking quilting that I just don't like and have quite a bit of it to do. I will do it one hour a day until it is done. That could well be July 4th. It has been a UFO for quite a while. I love the quilt and, of course, have lots of money invested in it.

Watson 01-19-2016 05:05 AM

I believe that the quilt I'm working on now could have been TWO quilts, I've taken so much of it apart and put it back together.
My husband caught me ripping out more seams and said, "Well, you're certainly very tenacious."

I"m thinking a nice glass of wine might have avoided this situation. just sayin.............

faykilgore 01-19-2016 05:58 AM

I knew I would find sympathy, empathy and kindred spirits here. Thanks. I went ahead and fixed it (the bottom section). Will post both front and back when it's done.

FabStripper 01-19-2016 06:04 AM

I think you should change the two squares in the bottom row right corner and make that mirror the left corner and it reminds me of rain rippelling in a puddle.

ManiacQuilter2 01-19-2016 06:10 AM

I agree. It has happened to ALL of use at one time or another. I always keep Jack (the ripper) nearby if I need rescuing. :)

red-warrior 01-19-2016 07:42 AM

Thanks for making me feel better! My last quilt I ripped out more than I sewed!

PolkaBabe 01-19-2016 08:11 AM

I like the opps, if it goes on a bed, or when it does, that part could go over the pillows. Anyway I like it.

Kathy T. 01-19-2016 11:41 AM

Seam rippers are our friends! But I sure like that butterfly fabric ...

QUILTNMO 01-19-2016 01:20 PM

sorry be there i feel your pain!!

kaylfordsollimo 01-20-2016 03:39 AM

Looks like your fixing just requires some shifting after one long horizontal rip out ant a short vertical one. I'll bet you were in a rush. That's when my goofs always happen.

jmoore 01-20-2016 04:30 AM

oops... I'm sure it's going to be spectacular when you get it sorted out. LOL

greaterexp 01-20-2016 07:12 AM

I'm right there with you! Sometimes I marvel at the creative ways I can mess something up!

grammysharon 01-20-2016 08:26 AM

I too do reverse sewing all the time! You know you aren't alone.

MargeD 01-20-2016 09:21 AM

I hate when that happens, but I think we have all been there. The kicker is if we don't notice it until it's quilted. When my daughter was going away to college, she wanted to take a quilt with her, she said she didn't want a quilt like any of my quilts. Was there a compliment in there? I doubt it. Anyway she went through my stash cutting up squares, wanting no two squares to be alike. She still hasn't found the one fabric she used twice, and I didn't catch it until I was quilting it; but I never said a thing. Anyway, I rather like your new design element in the quilt.

Boston1954 01-20-2016 02:45 PM

Just tell everyone that you PLANNED it that way.

Normabeth 01-20-2016 04:30 PM

I thought that I was the only one that "Became one with the seam ripper" LOL did you try the electric ripper yet?

Merrylin 01-20-2016 05:53 PM

Beautiful colors! Now you can act like a frog and "rippit rippit." lol

Halo 01-20-2016 09:53 PM

Hey, you just created another quilt design.

Electric? That sounds dangerous. I've done even worse damage to a quilt with over zealous ripping. Are you talking about the one that looks like a barber's tool? My BFF bought one and it took two of us to use it. We weren't impressed.

Sharonquilts 01-21-2016 06:00 AM

I think when we share are mistakes and can laugh at ourselves it's a good thing. We've all done something a little crazy at sometime. BTW, I keep "several" rippers nearby when sewing. LOL

heather1949 01-21-2016 06:51 PM

That is beautiful :)

...maybe a couple glasses of wine may have averted this situation...enjoy & know that this is a rarity....

QuiltnLady1 01-21-2016 07:52 PM

Ohhh how that hurts -- I did something similar with a Christmas Tree I was making not once but twice and had to recut because of all the biases. A little wine to mellow out while ripping would not go amiss.

mjhaess 02-03-2016 08:27 AM

I feel for you...been there many times...Pick a little at a time...Have a nice glass of wine while you do it....LOL...
