Not my style = Xmas Present :)

I was given 9 pieces (20"x17") of this southwest fabric.... not my style of fabric. Because it was already cut and not really workable yardage. I was stymied. Didn't want to put it into Bonnie Hunters scrap system, yet.

Ah, but I have relatives that live in the southwest. Ideas start popping in my head. I am making two handed pot holders, fussy cut fabric. 1 done, 2 to go. With left overs from fussy cutting, made 5/8" strips, to make clothes line basket. Ta Da, presents :) another plus... save $$, except shipping :(

I would not have selected that fabric either. You made great lemonade with your lemons.

RedGarnet222 11-20-2015 04:08 PM

Oh my gosh grammy Dwynn! Thant isn't my style of fabrics either, but you really made me want to buy some to make those baskets! Wow Wee ! I LOVE them!

Know what? If I made these in a muted southwest colors my older brother would have a fit over them! Thanks so much for the idea!

My son lives in AZ and I have become very fond of southwest fabrics. Not that they decorate with them, but it just reminds me of so much I have seen on visits there. I love what you did with yours!

Turned out very nice. You are very creative with what you were given.

kaylfordsollimo 11-23-2015 12:44 AM

What a great way to use "uncomfortable/inconvenient" cuts of fabric. Very clever and beautiful results, too.

quilterpurpledog 11-23-2015 03:14 AM

Very pretty, indeed. Though southwest might not be your style, the colors and designs are captivating. We lived in Santa Fe for several years and I loved the southwest image (though not my style). Your items are very nice and sure to be enjoyed.

Nonna Judi 11-24-2015 06:18 AM

Well aren't you the smart one! Your gifts turned out lovely. I am sure your family will appreciate them.
