Since so many of my friends and a few family members have either had or succumbed to cancer, I try to volunteer when and where I can to help the victims. I make dolls 4 local kids with cancer, and do chemo caps. I also do classes sometimes with young children about the dangers of smoking tobacca. A few days ago, I came upon a chemo cap pattern (simple) that was free to those who would 'give away' the caps. I made several, than decided to take some donated material a quilt friend gave me for the 'dolls dresses' and sewed them together then cut out the chemo cap pattern. This one is adult sized and I hope you will enjoy it. If anyone wants the link, it can be found by clicking around in the search under chemo caps, and eventually found. My mother and an uncle died of brain cancer, and then there are others.......hope the two pictures show up okay. I'm not real good at this picture stuff.

HERE YOU GO...I found the easy to make pattern I sewed. I made 11 so far. 4 youth and 2 adults caps from 1 yard each of 2 fabrics. I made my own ties. They are easy. I made mine over 12 inches long. More like 18 or 20 inches long.

I hope this helps those wanting to sew these. THey weill be so welcome. I'm sure hospitals that treat cancer would be real grateful....or your local American Cancer Society.

I wish I would have known this when I went through my treatments, I spent a fortune on things to cover my head when I was out in public. I will definitely make some of these and get them to the local hospital for someone. For anyone that has gone through treatment, losing your hair can be as bad or worse than the treatment itself, it was devastating for me. Thanks for sharing !

Thank you for making these caps. A lady brought in a box full into my sister oncologist office. She and I both had cancer about 6 weeks apart. I had a wig but hate it. She got one for herself and one for me. It was wonderful. Your gift is deeply appreciated more than you know. :thumbup:

Sorry to be so late getting back on your note and want to thank you and all others that responded. So glad you were able to get a cap, and wish I'd know you needed one, as I 'd have mailed one your way. I've heard wigs are miserable to deal with.

Hope all is much better for you all. My brother had massive cancer surgery on his bladder, and now has a part of colon serving as the vessel to contain the urine and opening now out to abdomen. He has to cath the area to remove urine a few times a day. They also removed the prostate. It is his third time to get cancer. I've lost family and friends to cancer myself. Awful stuff to deal with.
