Nothing special...

Just wanted I share these.

This first pic is really bad. My room has horrid lighting at night. The block was an accident because I messed up another block pattern and this is the result lol. It was made with a couple charm packs of the Flirt line and I added Kona Iron. I am going to use the light pink and red for binding and backing to make it a smidge more valentines dayish.

This next pic is of the backing for my chocolate Easter bunny quilt top. My darling assistant Lulu helped hold the backing on the batting. :)

Very sinple but I needed something simple after the Christmas quilt.

Thanks for looking.

QuiltnNan 01-09-2014 04:02 AM

nicely done on both. the accidental pattern on the first one is very interesting.

Tfch8184 01-09-2014 04:14 AM

Thank you.

It was supposed to be a whirlygig block. I miscut my fabric and started playing around and that's what happened. Df liked it so I kept it going. Lol. He is my sounding board when I have design issues and always checks my tops for placement before they are together.

Tartan 01-09-2014 05:46 AM

Happy accident on the first one! Your tops are cute and I like your pieced backing. Your assistant is darling!

I actually like your mistake very much! I'd love to make one myself, in toddler fabric for my 1yo granddaughter, kinda like an ispy ...

Can you share what exactly you did ... a kinda tutorial ...it looks like it wouldn't be difficult to do (fingers crossed and hoping, I'd like to make a quick quilt for her)

QUILTNMO 01-10-2014 01:22 PM

they look great i do like the mistake one different nice job!!!

Tfch8184 01-10-2014 05:57 PM

This is basically what I did.

I used a whirlygig tutorial with charm packs. I believe it was off turtle hill quilters blog. Instead of trimming one side to 4.5 I accidentally left it a whole charm square. I still cut everything else the same but it wouldn't line up to a whirlygig so I made the parallelogram instead. When I joined the two blocks together to make it I just trimmed the length down to 8 or 8.5 inches. And then wala my whoopsie was made lol.

I have some spare charms laying around and extra grey already cut for that block so I'll try and sit tomorrow to write it out exactly how I messed it up.

Thanks for the compliments though. It's by far my favorite mistake lol

http://turtlehillquilter.blogspot.co...orial.html?m=1

That is the tutorial I was trying to use. I did all the cuts the same except trimming the whole charm pack to 4.5 on one side. Then it's just taking two pieces that got sewn together to make the single block I made.

Does that make sense lol

QandE2010 01-10-2014 06:41 PM

I like them both. The accident in the first quilt turned out cute. I adore Lulu.
