NOW, what to do for the quilting part?
 

I just finished a class on the Stack and Whack and am not sure what to do for the quilting part. It is a gift for some very dear friends and want it to be special for them. The background is a beige/gold (even though it looks white in the pic) and I did a double red stop border and then the original material for a wider center border. I am open to any suggestion. am hoping the pic is attached.

I really like the colors, but no idea on how to quilt it. Good job!

Beautiful quilt. The quilting in the print area won't show up too much, but you have some lovely lighter areas for designs if that's the way you want to go. I would probably google "stack and whack quilts" and look at the images to get ideas on quilting.

Absolutely beautiful! Do you plan to quilt it yourself? If not, we have some excellent LA quilters on this board-I have used Charismah, and if you check out the many, many quilts she has done and posted photos, you can see the work she does, or get ideas if you want to do it yourself. I do think you should use gold thread, though.

would love to see a pic withe the borders to help figure the quilting. Lovely so far.

was just going thru the magic stack n whack book by bethany reynolds this morning. in the back are some quilting ideas.
one is to do a leaf pattern in background areas. then she shows a sunburst pattern within the star units. she also suggest zig-zag or serpentine in the star units. if you have access to that book you can use the patterns that are included.

i am sure that whatever you choose it will enhance and already beautiful quilt. have fun.

Doing some type of design on the stacks is important as they will want to pop up! I have seen some very simple wiggley leaf type up and then down each side of the seame. For the background you could do something as simple as a meander. Whatever you decide on will surely look beautiful.

This really reminds me of the quilt I made for my DD when she graduated from law school. She went to Lewis & Clark & it just so happened that there was a fabric line by that name that season. So I made her this little (lap-sized) S & W. Since there were feathers in some of the fabrics, that's what I had my long armer do -- feathers. I hope maybe this gives you an idea. I really love your quilt & know your friend will, too! Beautiful!

I see a simple stitch in the ditch that "frames" the designs; along the seams in the white area. Simple but effective, I think. Simple, yes; that's the way my mind works for quilting.

Will be vvvvvvery special, and take a pic outside for real coulors after quilting

LOVE IT!!!! The stack and whack pattern is something I have always wanted to do......it is on that long list.....

Depends on how comfortable you are quilting. I think it would nice with the plates (stack n whack part) SID and then stipple in the solid area in a color that blends well. I think that would make your plates stand out. BUT if you are comfortable doing FMQ than something more detailed in the solid would look wonderful.
