Now What should i do??????????????
5 Attachment(s)
Here is a picture of a quilt top that was given to me. it was sewn uneven and the stitches were loose and was a mess. I took it apart and starched my blocks and squared them up and sewed the top back back together. there was two borders one with three strips on two sides and two wide borders on the opposite sides. the small borders are not long enough to take apart and sew on all four sides and I was thinking about taking the big wide borders and making a smaller border to frame it all the way around.
What do you think? |
Wow! You have more patience than I do, but the result is lovely. I think your idea re cutting the wide border, etc. is a very good one.
Wow great work!
Your redo turned out lovely.
What patience and such a labor of love. Great idea and wonderful job!
Use the wide border all around. You're doing a great job.
I would try fitting the smaller darker strips around the whole quilt. If they aren't long enough to go all around, then add a corner stone of the smaller light blue strip to see if that would work. Then add the wider border around that. It will be beautiful no matter how you finish it.
Your fix is great!!!!!

You turned the old quilt into a very pretty quilt. Great work.
you did a nice job! wtg!
Your patience and tenacity are to be admired. Your "fixin" came out great. I like your border idea. Please share the final redo when you've completed it. Thanks for sharing.

It appears the the 3 row border is longer than the wide border. If this is the case & it's long enough, you could split it down the middle of the light blue/pink strip (giving you 4 strips to work with) and sew it on each side with the split light blue strip out. Then divide the larger border and add it to the split light blue border on the outside. I hope this is clear. You did a great job of redoing the top and I would love to see the finished top.

Yep, use the wide border to do the complete border. You should be proud of the work you have done so far. Sandy 64

wow! a lot of work, but sooo worth it! i like the cornerstone idea, too. it's beautiful no matter which way you choose to go!
Oh how nice! You've done a great job.
Did you put in a lot of TV time while ripping it apart. can't imagine but so pretty
Beautiful quilt and I think you should do what looks good to you.
Great work, you have plenty of patience.
Nice job on the remake of the quilt! I agree with a the other ladies that have comments posted...you have more patience than I would have had doing this project! Would love to see the finished quilt, please post.
YOu must have a lot of patience. Nice job!
Wow the fabrics are so pretty. It was worth the great effort.
I like your idea for the border
Wow! If you had the patience to take this apart and completely make it over, I think whatever you do with the border will be fabulous. Gosh. Makes me tired just thinking about your job. You did great.
Excellent SAVE! I could never do that! I wouldn't even attempt to advise someone with so much talent and perseverance! I am sure that whatever you decide to do it will be perfect!

It looks so much better now! I like the white border better than the blue... white looks fresh and clean. The blue makes it look drab. Add as small white inner border then use the blue for a second border. or something else altogether. You can always use the blue on the back for a scrappy backing. I've seen a lot of scrappy backs lately.
Lighten it up. It's really pretty. |
You've done a great job redoing this quilt. Can't say I would have worked that hard on it - would have put it in my do someday pile. Applaud your skill and patience.

The finished project looks great! I like your idea for the border as well.

If I put the border back on, I would make it narrower. Great job reworking the quilt.
Great job on the "fix"! :) It will be terrific whatever you decide~
