They're all lovely, but I have to say, I love love love the first one!

sewNso 04-22-2010 07:17 PM

yes, i relooked at it, and even the white on that one was scrub material. it was grabbed quick by a daughter one yr, when i gave them their choices for xmas.

and the yellow in the yellow and blue was from LQS.

likewise the yellow and the white in the brown/starred quilt was purchased at the LQS

when you order from the factory, they ask you 'print', 'solid'
or a 'mixture'

Nice work.

thimblebug6000 04-23-2010 06:46 AM

All nice, but my favourite is with the gold stars.

littlehud 04-23-2010 07:02 AM

They are just beautiful. Love them all.

sewNso 04-23-2010 07:40 AM

thanks all of you. and they are thrifty. each box could make 50 queens, i bet. if you could work with the matarial in each box, and then add you backing and batting. $1 a quilt for the main colors. i usually just add whatever extra trim colors to make them pretty. the solid colors are usually a little muted. not bright red, or green, or purple. just slightly off the brightest color.

the little boy in the picture of the red and blue one is 8 now. and he is the one that got the quilt in the posting 'mistakes are okay'.

What is the name of the place you order these from. I guess I missed it. I have a friend that is a nurse and these would make a great scrappy quilt for her.

kso 04-23-2010 08:13 AM

Yes! Inquiring minds want to know!! Where can we purchase the boxes of scraps?

it must have been in another post, HICE advertises or they did about 4 yrs ago, in the back of quilting magazines. the ad is about a 2" X 2" sq. block. quick quilt i know had it. they were $25 for about 100 lbs. + shipping. to n.c. was a cheaper than to michigan, which was an additional $25. they will ask you "print", "solids" or a "mixture". a couple times they didn't ask me, but be sure and specify what you want. the solids aren't a real 'brite' color, just l shade off the real brite. you have to think, dr, lab, nurse, scrub colors. remember the pants?
1-800-752-4927 hope they are still in the u.s. they were just outside huntsville, ala. i looked them up on the map once. did i say in this post that i bet each box, if you added a little extra
material here and there, i bet you could make 50 quilts.
here's a couple more.

kso 04-23-2010 12:55 PM

I just got off the phone with them. Current prices are $25 for 50# of scraps. They only have solids and the boxes are assorted colors.

sewNso 04-23-2010 12:57 PM

today, probably, only solids, did you ask them when or if they would have any prints?

kso 04-23-2010 01:33 PM

I did. They said they will no longer offer prints.

sewNso 04-23-2010 01:36 PM

i called them also. they said business is slow, so they just aren't making and selling uniforms like they did. i asked if they had moved their operation out of the country. and she said no. and i asked her were they going to have any print scraps later on. and she said yes. prob. she hoped they would.

i guess it's a good thing, i got carried away, and got it when the getting was good, and then i got my mom's when she passed away.

These quilts are nice, nice, nice. Your skills come screaming through. You must have been quilting for years. Very nice work. I love them all.

sewNso 04-23-2010 03:34 PM

thanks for the nice compliment. no, i have not been making quilts for yrs. remember my grandma doing it tho, and getting blue ribbons at the fair. but yes, i have been sewing since i was l6. and taught 4-h sewing a couple yrs. and they took their stuff to the fair, and were 'judged'. and i had a stickler for a home ec teacher yrs ago. the quilt's believe it or not are all 'easy' patterns. or just a notch above that. been quilting about 10 yrs 'this time'. and i am still leaning stuff all the time. there for a while, when i made a quilt, i did something i hadn't done before. and i tell myself, it's suppose to be a hobby. don't kill yourself. 'we are suppose to be injoying this.'
