2 questions how big is the finished quilt and how much fabric did it take? I think it is just stunning!

Woody,
I love the way this one turned out. It is beautiful. Good idea to use the black triangles.

The quilt is about 62" x 71" and because the repeat on the fabric was 24" I used 4 yards (I always buy more so I still have 1 yard to use on the back).
I still have about 30 hexagons left over so the quilt could have been much bigger but I only wanted a couch snuggle size. I am using the leftovers in a interlocking cube quilt like Katrine did. Sorry but I have no idea how much black I used.
Hope this helps.

And have fun making the interlocking cubes one too - please let me know how you get on....they are fascinating to do.

Thanks Katrine, I think I will just SITD around each hexagon and I was thinking of just running a line about a 1/4" inside each black triangle.
I am still a beginner (I have only been at this for about 18 months) so all suggestions welcome.

I have enrolled in a FMQ class with Helen Godden (http://www.helengodden.com/) in late January so I might wait until I have done that and had some practice.

The interlocking cubes are nearly done, they sure are different to do as each piece looks strange until you put them all together.
