Wonderful addition to this quilt.

grandbysquilts 06-16-2011 06:41 AM

WOW! I'm impressed! The first thing that popped into my mind was "In the midst of chaos, you can still find beauty". I agree that a whole quilt of these blocks would be dynomite! In 22 years, have never seen this pattern with the hole in the middle. Pattern name? I love 3 dimensional quilting! Great idea!

imaquilternga 06-16-2011 06:53 AM

Beautiful!

GrannyFitz4 06-16-2011 07:10 AM

I love the the cubes. Were they appliqed on or done as part of the design. Makes me want to do something with the one block wonder.

lillybeck 06-16-2011 07:21 AM

What a great addition in the blocks. They really make the whole quilt pop

Sarah CA 06-16-2011 08:24 AM

Are you kidding? I think it turned out great!!

It always amazes me what the OBW does to fabric !!!!!

The border is the original fabric - if you can tell from the photo - I'm really not a very good photographer.

Now that's a thought :)

I have Maxine Rosenthall & Joy Pelzmann's One-block Wonders Cubed, but found it a little advanced for my limited skills, so picked up their previous book "One-Block Wonders Encore" and found it much more usefull.

sewbizgirl 06-16-2011 08:47 AM

The cubes are awesome.

They are part of the design - each of the cubes is actually the same hexagon as the other blocks - it amazed me to see how the choice and placement of the colors produced the cube effect.

quiltmouse 06-16-2011 09:06 AM

Your original blooks may be somewhat understated compared to some OBWs, but I LOVE how they turned out!!!!

katcox 06-16-2011 09:07 AM

I love the blocks on there , great imagination you have. I never would of thought of that.Nice job!

audsgirl 06-16-2011 09:17 AM

The quilt looks very pretty both with the cubes and just looking at a section without them. Maybe a solid border would have focused on the center more and reduced some of the business.

CAS49OR 06-16-2011 11:44 AM

I really like the cubes, they really "made" the whole quilt! They look so artistic. Did you applique them on there?

lynn_z 06-16-2011 11:58 AM

Really excellent! Cubes add a whole new character.

gramquilter2 06-16-2011 03:10 PM

I love it with the cubes added.

trolleystation 06-16-2011 03:10 PM

Luv the blocks...I think that it saved the quilt. Some fabrics just do not lend themselves to OBW. I found that out using a paisley print for a four patch posy. I turned out really bad.

luce321 06-16-2011 03:18 PM

Very nice, like the cubes.

RatherB Quilting 06-16-2011 03:20 PM

Uh-oh...I chose the exact same fabric for my OBW. The good news is that I LOVE the way your quilt turned out (even without the cubes) and I can't wait to start. I think I will leave the cubes out of mine...mostly because I haven't the first clue how to make them....LOL!
:)

Looks beautiful - just love the blocks you added to your quilt

annpryor 06-16-2011 05:44 PM

I think it is absolutely beautiful. Great job.

I'm glad you like the way it turned out since you have the same fabric, I was originally really drawn by the colors. - will be watching for pictures when you get yours done.

alikat110 06-16-2011 06:20 PM

Nice

duckydo 06-17-2011 03:41 AM

Love the fabric, the cubes are nice, but I like it without them.

PamB8s 06-17-2011 03:44 AM

I really do like it. Very different. The cubes really did set it off and add that contrast. Good eye with that decision.

Jamiestitcher62 06-17-2011 05:58 AM

I don't get the cube thingy, for me it would be a no, but I love your quilt with or without the cubes. The fabric is great.

Then again, I'm a newbie and I'm not that creative.

Norva 06-17-2011 07:54 AM

Thank you to all for comments on this quilt - it is such fun to get opinions - "cubes yes" - "cubes no" - "fabric great" - "fabric busy". I love Quilters - everyone has their own taste and style and they are all wonderful. THANK YOU

timepasser 06-17-2011 08:35 AM

either way is really pretty but I am loving those cubes on there

blueangel 06-20-2011 07:37 AM

it's a great quilt!

redquilter 07-29-2017 08:08 AM

The cubes , IMHO, are fine but I honestly didn't think it was too busy before. I thought it was beautiful. Still is. Great work.

jlt37869 07-29-2017 09:12 AM

I love OBW quilts! Thanks for sharing!

QUILTNMO 07-29-2017 10:18 AM

very nice!!!

SusieQOH 07-29-2017 10:21 AM

Amazing work!!!!!!!!

Boston1954 07-29-2017 10:29 AM

I am fascinated with those cubes, but I am too chicken to try one. They really calmed it down. As to not liking it, you could donate it someplace. People are really appreciative when you give them something from the heart.

sewbizgirl 07-29-2017 10:31 AM

You have great color instincts. I LOVE the cubes!

Norva 07-29-2017 11:33 AM

You border choice really sets this off. Love the purple and orange with the yellow flange.
