Obw
1 Attachment(s)
I have been watching a tutorial on OBW an decided to try it as it seemed very easy to follow. I had a piece of curtain fabric to experiment on so when I get all the other items finished I will maybe give it a try. It is not perfect as I used a 60deg ruler with point squared off so will maybe have a hole in center of each lol

Very Pretty. What did the original fabric look like?Maybe someday I will do one of these lovely blocks. BrendaK

Looks really good to me and I surely don't see any holes - I am sure once you stitch them up they will vanish! lol.
very pretty blocks
Very Nice ... will be quite dramatic with the black and the print in it.
Oh don't wait to finish the other things ... continue on with this one! The point knocked off will not be an issue, as your seam allowance will knock off that knocked off point! :D |
Stacked fabric makes my favorite blocks and I love yours.
Looks like you picked a good fabric and will get color contrast, blender pieces. I did one and I hate to say it but I bought the 60 degree ruler which keeps the points, and it was a big help.
When I did mie I stuck to the rules about which way the triangles have to go - I did it by the book - but I have heard from many QB members that it is fine to turn the pieces any way you like to get the best arrangement. Arranging is sooooo much fun! |
Looking great so far!!!!
looking good...
Really cool blocks! Way to go!
beautiful, you picked a grreat fabric for a obw
Pretty Blocks.
those blocks are just one surprise after the next. beautiful
Your blocks are beautiful....can't wait to see the whole quilt. The fabric you started with is perfect for a OBW!
Very pretty! The OBW triangles can be turned in three directions. If the center ends up not meeting when you sew one together, rotate the triangle so the cut off point is on the outside and you can trim the edge if needed. Did you use the OBW video posted on QB? It really makes it easier doesn't it?
Very pretty blocks.
I watched a tutorial from "IF THESE THREADS COULD TALK" and thought before I would cut any good cotton fabric I would try these pieces of curtain material. They have turned out good but I don't have a large amount of it so will just make whatever and see what I can put together. Many thanks for all your kind remarks.

Beautiful fabric making beautiful kaleidoscope blocks! What fun!!!
How about a bed runner or table runner if you don't have enough for a quilt.
Looking good.
Pretty blocks. I use to want to make one, have perfect fabrics for one or more. When choosing which quilt to make seems I always come up with something else.
Right now I am trying to use up my scraps before moving to large amount of fabrics. |

........ or a wall hanging |
Beautiful !
Love your material! If they end up with a hole, how about a little button or yo-yo?
They are very pretty, the fabric is great to use with that pattern, they will make a lovely quilt.
If you turn the pieces so the cut end would be on the outside - Would you have to worry about a hole?
Wow, such beautiful fabric & you have certainly turned it into something to be proud of. Fantastic job !!
Great blocks.
Wow, entirely different blocks from one fabric. Always been a little iffy about what kind of fabric to use. Your curtain fabric is perfect! Wonder how many home decor fabrics would be perfect for OBW.
Very pretty....
Your OBW really looks nice - can't wait to see it completed!
It's looking good!
Looks like you're off to a great start, can't wait to see the finished quilt.
They look great
Very pretty fabric. I have the blocks of one put together but not to each other. In fact I put it aside I can't find it. Last week I put together another one not putting to each other but with a batik between them. That is sharp. They are fun.
